Saturday morning i had a fat pig walk in to my lane so i stood up got my new carbon knight came to full draw set my 30 yard pin right at his lugs and relesed all i see was him start halling but in a cirle then into the woods with my arrow sticking out his side. I get out of my tree and no blood i looked all over where he crashed trough the woods and nothing. First thing iv every shoot with a bow and could'nt find it i was pissed but happy it was just a pig and not a deer.

I've had them not bleed with a rage. Especially if you hit them in the shoulder. It closes up. Fat plugs it up too.

This for sure....I find that if I hit the hog low behind shoulder this is less an issue. I've killed dozens with muzzy 3 blade, but I prefer the bigger grim reapers nowadays..I always sharpen my blades out of package as well. There all pretty sharp out of package but the sharper the better.

Don't listen to that not bleeding cuz of the broadhead Nonsense. I just wanted to see what cutting diameter you were shooting. I've seen plenty of deer/pigs killed with muzzys. I've never personally shot them myself with them. It does sound like fat could have indeed blocked up the hole due to the small cutting Diameter, as the others have stated. Sounds like you probably hit the "off" shoulder preventing pass through as well. About the only thing I can say is get back out there and keep after him!! if he wasn't hurt that bad before in the pics, He SOON WILL BE!!

I had a similar experience Saturday morning shooting Boltcutter 150 gr. from my Excal. Vortex. Good hit on the boar from 25 yards and he took off into the brush--no blood trail. The night before I shot a sow from the same distance and the bolt penetrated all the way through and knocked her down where she stood under the feeder. Very little blood on that one either. I tried to find a blood trail on the boar for 2 hours and finally gave up.

3 and 4 blade broadheads leave a hole that is harder to be sealed up.
That being said, when you are shooting an animal with a fat layer that is 2" thick, plus a fairly tough hide, sometimes they don't drop much blood, but they are filling up internally when you shoot them.
Sharp broadheads are so important, I can't stress this enough. Especially to you new archers out there. A dull one will slip and slide around internally, where a sharp one will slice its way through.
When you shoot an animal with a bow, it is not the impact that kills them, it is hemorrhagic shock as they bleed out. The more tissue you cut along with careful shot placement, the more quickly they will die.
I am not a fan of mechanical broadheads. I have put truckloads of pigs down with simple old Thunderheads, and a few since changing over to Slick Tricks. I am really impressed with the Slick Tricks, they leave a nasty flapper of a wound, and have some super tough and sharp blades.

Good Reading. This was my first animal shot with a bow but iv been shooting bows for about 3 years and im always on the money on targets but i was shaking like hell. I think i just hit him in the rib area it was just little bit right of where i would aim for a heart shot. I know hes dead somewhere.

I tracked a hog down in Laredo that left chunks of fat with very little blood. The fat was hanging out of the hole and not letting him bleed out.

Probably didn't even hit the dang pig!......You need to take Don McCon with you next time to show you how its done!! Of course it would take him an hour just to climb up the stand and then he would have to call someone and ask a million questions before he did ANYTHING.
