...much about hogs, other than they've blown a hunt once or twice. There is a pic of him up against the T-post and his shoulder is 16 'knobs' tall - I am guessing that equals about 32". From head to tail that would mean about 54" long. Already have a reliable guess of 235-260#s.

Already have a reliable guess of 235-260#s. LOL. How 'bout this, then: someone who is much more experienced in judging hog weight on the hoof estimates him at 235-260#s. ...or are you laughing out loud because your opinion of weight varies from that estimate?

...or are you laughing out loud because your opinion of weight varies from that estimate? Okay, so your buddy didn't judge the hog on the hoof. He judged it on the pixel. "Reliable guesses" from 2D pictures tend to vary widely, especially with feral hogs that tend to be very plastic. That is what I found amusing.

That's a big boar with a mean looking head; that will make a great European with a bullet hole in it. If you sneak up to 30 yards from him at night it will make your heart pound and your hands shake...

There is a rule however. You can't shoot it at night and video it until 10/1/13. If you do, you must not weigh it or have your picture taken with it.

I'm not sure of what the spacing is on a t-post knob, but I I think they may be closer than 2 inches. Also, that hog is standing in from of the t-post a distance that you can't scale. He is pretty thick but I don't think he will will hit 200. What part of Texas was he in? Have yall had some pretty good rains or is it dry there? The other night, I shot a sow that should have gone 80+ but she was really drawn up. May have been a whopping 60 pounds if that. It doesn't sound like alot but when you consider thats about 25% less than what her body size dictates, thats a bunch. It could have been from the piglets she was nursing, or it could have been from the diet / food competion / drought. I saw on another site where someone had shot some pigs in our area (boars) and they were drawn up as well (loose skin on the quarters). Very poor looking animals, but they were behind a high fence so that could have been a big factor too.
