Game camera rookie here. Can anyone that has this camera tell me what setting you use? My camera has been out for 2.5 weeks and I have no pictures and I have something coming to the feeder. I think I did something wrong. Is there a way to get a test picture without walking in front of it?

Thanks for the help.

With that camera all you have to do is turn it on. It will take small pics, and only one at a time, but will take pics. How far from the feeder do you have it?

It is about 15-20 feet from the feeder.

You need to make you go through the setup after turning on the camera make sure you have the camera set properly, then switch the dial to AUTO. Once the camera is on auto you should be good to go. It will give you a 59 second countdown till its ready. If you waited till after the countdown expired and hung around you should see a 1 of xxxx displayed for exposures.

I have 2 of them, it will go to one pic per event as default. You can change it to 2 or 3. You can also change the quality of the pic. If the camera know is on auto, all you have to do to make it work is push the power button. You can do more, but don't have to to make it work.

That is about the right distance. I would see if it will take a pic of you, and if it won't bring it back to the store.

sory helomech. i misunderstood you. i thought you were saying all it will take is 1 pic per event but now i understand and yes i agree with you. it defaults to 1 pic but can be changes to 2 or 3 or video.

Set the quality to "enhanced". This will take a much better quality pic than the default setting. It warns of more battery usage in this mode but I've yet to see problems with battery life. In fact, they tend to last me over 3 months.

actually takes very decent video.
Setup is very easy, just turn dial to setup and use arrows up and down to find even and press enter to highlight then toggle up or down with arrows.
switch from 1-3 picture optiong, or choose 30 Sec. video clip which can also take 1-3 pictures right before videoing.
The imagges are small on med & high quality setting. IF you change it to low quality you will still get visible pictures with a larger image.
Once settings are set, turn dial to AUTO and vacate premises in 30 seconds. I check my cameras weekly and the D40 averages 200-400 pictures on 1-3 image. I will also get an accumulated 150 video & image combos when taking video. Batteries last FOREVER in that camera, months at a time.
I wish it was IR but i love everything else about it. Moultrie makes very simple and effective cameras for CHEAP!
