I've always liked dove and I've always like teal. The more I eat them the more I think teal actually taste better than dove.

I can't get my family to really eat any birds I bring home but last night was different. Went teal hunting Sunday morning...came home with 4 birds...cleaned them and then marinated them all day. About 3pm I lit a fire on my smoker and put teal breast with bacon and cooked them low and slow for about 2.5 hours. I ask my girls if they wanted to try some steak...my oldest, Kate, knew it was duck so she said no but the 3 year old said yes and ate about a quarter of one of the breasts as we waited for dinner to finish. She asked for more.

Then Kate my 6 year old tried it at dinner...she loved it....they both ended up eating an entire duck worth of it each. The funny thing was we actually pulled the bacon off and when it was all said and done only the bacon was left.

For now on duck at my house will be called duck steak...when I put Kate down to bed last night she asked when we would be having duck steak again and no lie she said her prayers and asked god to have her daddy bring home more ducks next weekend. It was so cute it could bring a tear to your eye (not me...not really the crying type like some of you weepy boys).

I really didnt. Last time I cried was about 12 years ago when my grandmother died. I don't really do the tears for joy thing or cry about cute little stories people post. If my eyes get watery it's normally because I got something in them or somekind of reaction to foods.

I'm not saying I'm more of a man either...I just don't get all choked up like some people do.

Hell I teared up when I had my dog put down last month. Ain't ashamed to admit it. I like both teal and dove equally. Dove the old school way with peppers and onion wrapped in pig and grilled. Chicken fried teal fingers with a good cream gravy. Oh yea. Still got all my birds in freezer, I always wait til end of first season to bust em out

I think I got yall off track with the crying stuff. I honestly don't care if you do or don't. I cried when my family dog died when I was in HS. My dog I have now is 10 and is in great shape but I doubt I'll cry when she kicks it...but I'll be sure to post if I do.

Now that I think about it I did cry when I was hunting with Ishootspoonies and he got mad at me for stealing all his teal tags...but that was really one of those laughing so hard I cried...not really the same. I know how he loves talking about teal tags.

If you don't cry about a faithful companion like your dog that went and picked up your birds on a hot azz day or jumped in the water duck after duck, day after day and didn't ask for money or complain about you not getting your own damn bird, find that hard to believe my brother. But I like dove, teal and scotch. Was scotch part of the question?

My wife had never eaten duck until Teal opener this year. We threw some on the grill and she ate a piece and loved it.
