LOL, recently, I have been hunting the land that surrounds a cemetery and I don't even have any spooky stories from there. After they put up hog wire to keep out the hogs, it no longer looks like zombies trying to leave the graves.

I was about 10 years old and dad had his buddies at our lease and I was there. We watched the movie Friday the 13th before I went to bed. Well dad and his buddies thought it would be cool to put a hockey mask on and fire up the chainsaw by my bedroom window after I went to bed. Scared the S@€# out of me!!! Ill never forgive him for that.

Walked to my blind on a black and dreary morning and kept hearing footsteps in the leaves. Came back the same way after hunting and large mountain lion track right over the top of mine. Been spooky walks ever since !

After being at the lease for about 5 days, my dip wad cousins thought it would be cool to go to my stand after I went to bed and put a skeleton figure w/ huge bugged out eyes in my chair. Well the next morning Im climbing in about 30 minutes before daylight and shined my flashlight in the stand and it scared the crap out of me! Luckily it was a ground blind or I would have fallen out.

Not my story but one my dad has told many times and it never changes.
About 25 years ago him and his hunting buddy were at the lease all by themselves. My dad had just bought a cab over camper and they were inside frying fish one night because there were severe storms and tornados all around them so they couldn't cook on the grill or sit around the fire. No way they could even get out of camp because all the heavy rain had made the mud pretty much impossible to get through.
It was about 10pm that night and with tornado warnings coming over the radio one right after another, rain coming down in buckets, thunder, lightning, and heavy wind they hear KNOCK......KNOCK......KNOCK......KNOCK......KNOCK on the door of the camper. They both looked at each other and wondered who in the heck would be out there in that kind of storm. They both just stood their motionless looking at the door for a minute or two and then it happened again......KNOCK......KNOCK......KNOCK......KNOCK.....KNOCK. This time my dad reached for his brand new S&W 44 Magnum and his buddy slowly opened the door only to find nobody there. There were no foot prints, no tree limbs that could have caused it, nothing on the trailer that could have been flapping in the wind that could have caused it or nothing. It didn't happen again the rest of the night and to this day he cant explain it.

Opening day last year I left late from Plano on Friday and made it as far as Abilene before I was too tired to drive. Got a room in Abilene and crashed for a few hours. Got up at 3am and drove to Blackwell the next morning. As I turned off 377 onto 153 about 3 miles and drove up on a bad single car accident. Some guy hauling a Uhaul lost it and rolled it. The cops had the road closed and life flight was just landing. About an hour delay before they cleared it.
Skipped forward to earlier this year making a trip to the lease. Again stayed the night in Abilene and left early. As I turned off 377 onto 153 and rolling along, when I came to the same dip on the road there is a guy standing on the side of the road. I zipped by him and then got to thinking there may be another accident, turned around and went back. No one there. Now remember this is like 3:45am. Oh well, I guess my mind is playing tricks on me before my morning coffee.
Two months later, again heading to the lease about the same time. This time my daughter and her BF are with me. Get to the same spot and there is a guy standing on the road in the same spot. I am upset but whiz by again. The BF says, "hey, I think that guy was flagging us down. Do you want to stop and help?" I just said, "Nope, nothing I can do for him." and keep going.

I think I remember reading about that accident.

A few years back, spring turkey season in the appalachian mountains, I was making my way up a ridge on a cow path. Once into the thicker brush I decided it was a little too dark to continue without tripping and falling, so I decided to wait a while for more daylight. While waiting on the cow path, I hear something coming off the ridge at an alarming pace and sounding like it is coming down the cow path I am standing on. Due to the think green briars, I can't really can't get off the path, and am really getting worried about getting run over, or worse. About the time I am seriously and relucantly thinking about shoulder my gun, I see somthing on the path running directly at me, maybe knee high. At about 20 ft out, it stops dead and just looks at me. After what seemed like an eternity, it snarled and turned left and vanished. Nevered figured out what it was, as I didn't stick around. My hunting buddy said it was the tasmanian devil after I swore I saw red eyes in the dark.

Out rabbit hunting with some buddies one night. There is 6 of us hunting so we split into groups of 2. 2 go one way down a levee, 2 the other way and buddy and I dip down a ride-a-way into the woods. Haven't been gone 20 min, maybe walked 100yards, and hear pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, click. Buddy had unloaded his 22 in rapid action. We run back to levee thinking "what in the world is going on". He comes running up and we could hear something behind him. Have just enough time to hit it with the flashlights and see a big Tom bobcat take a hard turn off the levee. Apparently it was chasing poor buddy of mine. Needless to say he never went hunting with us again.

Shot a BIG hog under a feeder late one afternoon. Way too big to eat, so I decided to move it off a couple hundred yards to an opening and use it for coyote bait. It took 2 of us to wrestle it into the bed of the truck to get it moved. Next morning it starts getting light and I'm scanning that opening for varmints. I can't see anything, even though the hog should be easily visible. Hunted for several hours and didn't see a single deer, which was really unusual. Finally, I climbed down and walked over to where we had dropped the hog. You could clearly see exactly where the hog had been laying, and there were drag marks for about 2 feet, then nothing. No hair, blood stains, bones, hide, nothing. Something had picked up a 175 pound hog and carried it off without leaving a trace. I still to this day can't figure out what happened.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Early mornin hike into a large property around 3000 acres, heading toward the wheat field a mile away where we had the "Condo Blind" set up in a large oak, all of a sudden for real foggy and couldn't see spit. Rather that wander around, get lost and spook game, we buried ourselves in a brush pile. Temp outside was mid 30's so we we covered up real well. Get settled in the pile and out of nowhere something jumps on my back and begins to claw me. Turns out we landed in a bobcat den and momma was none too happy. That goodness for the thick gloves I had on to tear her off my back. She ran away but was snarling the whole time. We got out of there quick and ended sitting in an open field until the fog burned off and we could get our directions to the blind.
Had another time during bow season when hiking down a draw to the blind that nestled a creek and the bottom of that draw. Halfway down my flashlight decides to quit. No worries, have a backup, batteries changes the day before. Well the bulb on the backup decides to burn out! I have a 3rd spare in the 4 wheeler, but by now another fog had rolled in so I just sit tight. Until I am surrounded by a sounder of pigs. I do have my CHL, but was only carrying a six shooter revolver. I jumped into the nearest tree that could hold me and loosed all 6 rounds. Good gosh, those pigs went nuts and raced every which way. Got outta there after 30 minutes in time to miss a nice doe with the bow coming out of the creek bed!
