Ordered two scope bases from a well known company in Red Oak yesterday.
Order total was $5.90......shipping was $11.09. Nice.

Oh well, you pays your money, you takes your chances. I don't see me ordering any other items from them.

I have tried doing business with the company you are referring to and always end up somewhere else.

I have often found that shipping/handling cost is a deal breaker. But every transaction has some sort of handling costs to the vendor.

I know what you're saying, but it ain't their fault gas is $3.50 a gallon. I went to ship an EOTech holographic sight the other day and it cost me $16. Shipping just isn't cheap anymore.

I am not sure if Midway still does it but they had a minimum. If you didn't reach the order minimum they would charge a small fee. The best company I have found out there on shipping and policies is Brownells. I order 5-10k worth of parts from them a year and have no complaints. If the item is small enough they charge $4.50ish to mail it. If you make an order and something gets backordered they ship that something for free. I.E. I ordered 6.8SPC dies and the shell holder was backordered. I think they charged me something like $5.86 total for it because they shipped it for free.

I shipped a 2# box from Pakistan to the US the other day VIA fedex and they charged me $35/pound to get it there.

You can ship things cheap but you miss out on things like insurance and other things that make life better if it gets lost.

Dang, $35 a pound? Yeah, that $16 included $3 worth of insurance. But it was just going from Texas to Virginia. You're right that the insurance is a no-brainer if it's something you really care about.

That's why I shop ebay and maybe amazon.... And buy (mostly) only free shipping.... I gave up trying to buy American and keeping money in the States when I bought a couple buck knives and a buckle and a couple other Montana Silversmith things with "made in china" stamps or stickers.

If you call and talk to Skylar there is a discount for THF members. One gets you free shipping, the other gets you tax free. You can use which ever you want but not both together.

I choose not abuse deals like tax and free shipping on a $5 part. Save that for the big ticket items so that attention isn't drawn when shipping might cost more than the item sold.

The freebies do a person no good if they don't know about them.

Still, lesson learned.

Graf has a minimum order fee...Ummm $6 I think...and anything ordered even back orders are free shipping. Used them for years and never been unhappy with the service. Don't think ammo or powder/primers are covered though...buy them locally anyway when I buy.

We ship a lot of stuff, with some of the changes some of our packages are costing a $1 to $2 more compared to last year. Then add in the packaging, our mailers went up 35 cents each on the last shipment.

You want complaints, try shipping overseas, almost $25 to ship to Great Britain. Our foreign customers now are ordering in groups to get the best value.
