Stupid things Knocked my mojo into the water this morning right at lst. There was two of them flying around attacking it. I'm not sure why and I've never seen them do it before. They most definitely did not want it there.

I was talking about the cow birds but I didn't know they were protected. And no I haven't ever blasted them before y'all get started.

From tpwd:

"Yellow-headed, red-winged, rusty, or Brewer's blackbirds and all grackles, cowbirds (does not include cattle egret), crows, or magpies may be controlled without a federal or state depredation permit when found committing or about to commit depredations on ornamental or shade trees, agricultural crops, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated in numbers and in a manner that constitutes a health hazard or other nuisance."

Not sure you can consider harassing a mojo is legal grounds for killing, but they are far from "protected".

Yes egrets are protected. That's crazy that they went after the mojo.

The white cattle egrets are commonly called cowbirds here because of their tendency to hang out with cattle. They are not, however, the cowbirds that tpw is referencing
