Hey ya'll I am having an issue with rain gear and ruined apparel, does anyone have any experience with textile proofing and how to properly use it. I spend a lot of money on outdoor apparel and would like to maximize its use and keep it in good standing for as long as possible. Cause it is expensive.

most modern raingear fabrics are factory treated and i would think any additional treatments might cause the membrane to de-laminate. i'll use seam sealer on this or that, but that's about it. rain gear is like a tent or tarp in that if put away wet or the slightest bit damp it'll ruin twice as fast. gore tex and such can be ruined by anything that might stop up the microscopic holes, and it will no longer "breathe" . even expensive garments will leak after awhile from chafing and rubbing against itself and you.
