Also took a few practice trips to Rocky Mountain National Park and climbed a bunch of stuff there.
Great place to train. I've probably done 90% of those peaks over the last 20 years including Long's. And just over 14k feet, that will probably be the highest i ever accomplish.. Congrats on your accomplishment!

Awesome!
Was there any climbing involved?
I'm trying to gauge whether we might be able to do this?

I'm trying to gauge whether we might be able to do this? Depends on the route that is used. Most of the routes are more or less hiking with a bit of scrambling. We took the Western Breach which has some exposure on the climb into the crater. The Western Breach is the only route that crosses into and camps inside the crater. All the other routes must have days added to the trip to see/explore the crater. Not too many guides offer the Breach as the high camp (18700 feet) is more than 3,000 feet higher than the other routes and the chance for altitude sickness is a lot worse. Whatever you decide, if you do go, don't cheap out on the guide or the number of days required. More days means more money but every day you add to the trip length increases you odds of success as your body acclimatizes.
