I want to get a 4 wheeler or side by side ATV but I am not sure even where to start, I just bought my first truck last year so this whole purchasing big things and financing still gets me a little confused and I don’t have any friends who have made purchase like this, I’m looking for a good hunting one and don’t know if I should look new or used? Anything I should stay away from? I know the pricing can be anywhere but for something basic what should i be looking at spending? Would yall know what financing would look like? And any good places in Houston that anyone knows of? I appreciate any advice yall could give me and please let me know any advice you wish you would of known

That's a big question with plenty of good answers. The least expensive basics would be a used 2wd ATV from Honda, Yamaha, or Suzuki (my opinion anyway). If money is no object and you want an ATV, get 4wd and a winch and front and rear racks. Plenty of choices on makers. On side by sides there are so many good options that I don't know what to suggest. If you want speed and fun, go with the Yamaha Rhino. If you want carrying capacity, maybe the new John Deere or a Polaris. And the upper end of that might be the Kubota RTV1100 with doors, windows, and heat and A/C. Go shopping and look at and drive everything. Then decide what you want and if you need a new one. Honda and Yamaha live forever, so a used one of those (in decent shape) should be fine.

If you are going to be using the new toy in the mud, pay attention to ground clearance. Honda isn't known for ground clearance. Polaris and Yamaha are. The Kubota side by side is not a mud machine. I know this for a fact.

Get a Polaris Ranger, go online and see them, I'm sure you'll love them.

Also check with UV Country out of Alvin Tx

go kick some tires, find features you like or dont like and narrow down your options that way. My in-laws were in the same situation not knowing where to start, they got rid of 4 wheelers because of amout of riders. They now have a six seater polaris

My personal recommendation is if you don't need one don't buy one. For most it is a play toy which if fine if you can afford it, it sounds like you may have better things to spend your green on though. I know my opinion will be in the minority, just a suggestion tho.
