Just thought I would try and get a good group of bow hunters to go to Alberta and go bear hunting this year. I go on this trip every year, and it is an awesome hunt. It is in Northern Alberta, and you can shoot 2 bears and a wolf! I will be going back again this year. The cost is $3500 and that is your license, food, Lodging, Guide and of course my wonderful company! Just seeing if anybody would be interested in tagging along. If you have any questions, just ask. If you were watching Adrenaline Outdoors today and saw Kyle shoot the black wolf and and his wife get a color phase and black bear, that is the same outfitter we will be hunting with.
Some bears from previous hunts:

It is Probably going to be the 3rd week of May. The Plane ticket is usually around 400. We usually split a rental car and drive 7 hours North to camp. Or we can get another flight for about 400 more. Just depends on what everyone wants to do. It really is a great hunt. You should see a ton of bears.

I'm hopeing on a great calling season, winning the lottery, selling a kidney, and whatever else it is going to take.
For real though my dad has been interested in a bear hunt and said if I lost some weight he would spring for it if it was around the price range jeff has. So I've been dieting.

Man that is pretty good incentive to go on a diet. TX Whiteboy, we dont have to ship the hide back. We salt them and bring them back on the plane with us. I will have a double bow case, so that frees up a checked bag for someone. If we get a group of 6 or so, I think I can get us a price break.

What is the age for this and how strong of a bow do you need to successfully harvest a big black bear?

I dont really know that there is an age limit. I would think 45 lbs would be enough. He has women shoot bears all the time with light bows. Just dont hit them in the shoulder, and you should be fine.

Isn't it the fall season that usually produces bigger bears and with better hides? I could be wrong. I have only hunted in the spring on San Carlos Res a few years ago in Arizona and not in Canada.

Curtis, you are right. The bears are bigger in the fall, Weight wise. The body and skull are still pretty much the same. Plus the weather is horrible up there that time of year. Another reason is they have plenty of food in the fall, and they are much harder to bait. In the Spring they are just coming out and are Hungry! The hit the baits like crazy. The hides are also Wonderful in the spring, as long as you dont go towards the end of June. Then they start to get rubbed.

Ah yes. That's the answer I was looking for. I knew it was something like that but I didn't know all the details. I appreciate you explaining to me. I knew they rub at some point in the spring but didn't know the facts. Thanks again!

The hunt I went on in the spring in AZ produces a lot smaller bear than what you can get in Canada but it was a lot of fun.

Good News guys. Just got the hunt Price lowered to $3000, if we get a group together. I am doing this hunt with Predator Posse again this year, so we should fill up for sure. 3,000 gets you 2 bears and a wolf if you see one. They kill 2 or 3 wolves a year. Hey Smoker, You can always cancel and go with a good group of guys!

Ok guys, Got a full week scheduled for us and the Posse. I have moved the other guys that booked to the week before, so we have 6 spots left. The week for us is May 22nd-29th. That has been one of their best weeks in the past. Normally the 2nd and 3rd week have been the best. This is the 3rd week. The bears will be used to coming in by then. Should be an awesome hunt.
