i have a remington feeder bought at walmart as a backup. i have alwasy used on time feeders that last a year on one set of aa batteries. my question is how long will a rechargable six volt battery last in my feeder without a solar panel and with a solar panel. thank yall for the info.
I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

Depends on the battery and the amount of time it spins, and how many times a day it spins. Mine is set for 3 seconds in the morning and 2 seconds in the evening on high. A battery without a solar panel will last at least 3 to 4 months. With a solar panel it may make a year. It depends on the size of the solar panel, and the quality of the battery.

It depends a lot on how you set it. No solar panel, starting with a fully charged battery, on lowest motor speed less than 8 seconds twice a day feeding, about 3-5 months.
Mine are beginning their third year with a solar charger they started service fully charged and show no signs of needing a charge.
I’ve never seen or bought a fully and properly charged 6 or 12 v feeder battery off the shelf, most will show a seemingly sufficient but false surface charge.
I’d suggest a good mono-crystalline solar charger.

It seemed my Remington feeders would only throw a couple of weeks on a battery before it started reading 'feeder jam.' That was the models from 2 years ago, so I hope the newer ones have longer battery life.

I have never had a error on mine, and I let them go until they are dead sometimes.

Had a problem with mine just today (new Remington digital timer put on 2 weeks ago) - think I have a bad batch of 6v's all bought from the same place at same time, 3 are dead inside of 2-4 weeks. I put a rechargeable in it today, hopefully it will last till next weekend when I hook up a solar panel to it. Mine was reading "Jam" too simply because the battery didn't have enough juice to move the spin plate...grr, same story with 3 of them. All were Energyzers - screw the bunny, back to Duracell and rechargeables. Earl

i Have 2 remingtons.... both are going on 3 years old. they have a solar charger and feed year round. One of them the wire or battery shorted out (the ends were all melted) so we put in a new battery and put new clips on the wires. good as new.
Side note when we look at the display are battery says its dead.... but it just keeps on spinning. I think having the charger hooked up makes it display dead, cuz it aint dead!!!

I set mine to spin for 4 seconds at 3/4 speed and a 6 volt rechargeable battery usually lasts 2 months.

There must be something wrong with yours. All 3 of mine are hooked to a solar panel, and they all give me the battery status.

I have had 6 Remington feeders going for several years with 0 problems. They all have solar panels and mine tell me the charge condition of the battery as well. I usually replace my batteries every 2-3 years unless they need it before then.
I have had great results with Remington feeeders, they are very reliable for me!!
