In the market to get one of those, but can't decide to get the marlin xt or the savage mkII, anyone have shot any of those before?

Savage is a pretty sweet shooter, I have the FV-SR. you might want to check out the Ruger American Rimfire as well, they look promising and take 10/22 mags.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Texflip: what kind of group are you getting out of the FV-SR, and what optic are you using? Saw someone with a bsa sweet 22 at the range last yr, I know everyone says its pos brand, but I look thru it and it looks fine to me

Texflip: what kind of group are you getting out of the FV-SR, and what optic are you using? Saw someone with a bsa sweet 22 at the range last yr, I know everyone says its pos brand, but I look thru it and it looks fine to me I actually have a BSA on mine, but not a Sweet 22, it's a 4-16x40. I can get quarter size groups with match ammo at 50 yards and 3" groups at 100 yards. I typically shoot subs not match ammo and those open up quite a bit at 100 yards but are nice and tight at 50-65 yards.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I would take a look at the new Ruger American bolt action. It used 10-22 magazines and has what looks like a copy of the accutrigger. I'm planning to check them out at the gunshow this weekend.

Either will probably shoot just fine IF you use/find decent ammo that the gun likes (rimfires are picky that way).
Some 'cheap' subsonic ammo is better than others (CCI Standard, SK standard plus ).
And even with 'expensive' ammo ($10+/50) or money is no limit, some will shoot better than others, in a specific rifle.
Finding the ammo that you gun will shoot the best, is the closest to 'benchrest handloading' that you'll get, with rimfire.
There is a whole forum on this - rimfirecentral.com
ohhhh, and good luck finding ANY kind of rf ammo anywhere, right now . . . . .

I got couple thousand rounds of rf now and more comming, but if the new rifle don't like what I got (cci and remington), last resort will be ctd for their 10 bucks per 50, they got pretty good selection

I just purchased 3 bricks of Aguila from Midway for .07/ round delivered.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
