It looks like a non-typical axis to me. The horns look like a sika, but the twin rows of white dots with a black stripe down the middle, to me, looks like an axis.

All the sika we ever saw/shot were chocolate colored, not spotted but they may come in different colors.

I've only seen chocolate Sikas myself, but do a google image search and the 3 out of the first 4 pictures are of spotted Sika.
I think it's a Sika.

Hmm, spent a lot of time up close with Sikas in Japan and they were real shaggy. Hard to tell from a back shot but doesn't look shaggy enough to be a Sika.

It's a spotted sika. The white spots on the back will be straight down the back along the black stripe. An axis will have two or maybe even one set of white dots the will go in and out of the black stripe instead of parallel and straight on a sika. Hope that makes sense! Choot'em!

Just looked it up in one of my books from wildlife class back 10 years ago. It is a sitka. There are 2 different types the smaller black shaggy one (I have shot this one they taste great) and the one that you have. If I remember correctly one I believe is a Fomoskan? or something like that
