So I will be buying a dog the end of this year / beginning of next year. I am looking for a fox red lab male. I would prefer 65-85lbs range but understand that it's not guaranteed. Can anyone recommend a breeder or 2 for me?

Don't go for color only, you will find a ton of breeders that breed for that darker reddish coat and the dogs they are breeding are over priced and lack brains. Look for good quality litters first and then narrow down to your preferences. There are some nice males out there that are throwing that particular coat when paired with the right female

Color generally speaking has nothing to do with color. If they advertise they are breeding for fox red then they maybe breeding for color more than characteristics that make a sound hunting dog.

Washita Retrievers has a brood named Wahsitas Hot Tomale that has thrown some pretty impressive Fox reds over the last few litters. Thats where I would start. JMO.

Washita Retrievers has a few fox red males. Washita's One Hot Tomale just passed away last month. But Jeff has another nice Fox Red. Running Master National with him also.

I wasn't looking for red when I got Jack, but he sure as heck is turning into a fine dawg!

You're welcome and yea he's pretty intense. Last year was his first season and he picked up on the game. He was about 11 mos. in the pic.

Lankas Labs up in Kansas used to have some good fox reds. Not sure what colors they have now, but I've hunted with some great dogs from their lines.

Hi all, my fox red lab passed away and I'm devastated. Looking to purchase another. He was a companion dog so I'm not looking for hunting traits but just friendly personality. Mine was a beautiful dudley with yellow eyes. Anyone know where I could find a look-a-like. I have come across dudleys but not with yellow eyes..

Happy Birthday.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Here is Scout at 6 mos, iron spike ranch pup. Wasn't looking for red either, but it grows on you.
