Got mixed feelings on it. If you do add it geese need to be part of it. Also I never did like the 1-5 scoring. Should be 1-3 at most. No way a GWT is worth five times less than any duck. Also lowering the top point birds also makes shooting a hen and getting -1 even more important.

I'm not really sure how to make this anything other than a killing contest which is the reason I don't like it. but the reason I do like it is it makes guys post pics that they would normally be too lazy to do (talking about myself here). I took way more pictures last year than ever before because I knew I needed to post the pics to keep up with Guy and Treebass.

No way, J.J is one of the reasons we all love this tournament. and looking at all his photoshopped pics.

Macstar, I feel you on the killing part, but we all know this is for fun and not too serious. If your going to be out in the woods anyways killing birds, you might as well try to score more points by not takinig any hens.

I guess I consider myself a waterfowler...not just a duck hunter. The name can be changed if it makes you happy. Why would anyone care if geese where included? I guess if you are worried about not getting as high a ranking because you only hunt ducks...well that's dumb...you still won't beat JJ no matter what. Honestly that's the only reason why geese would not be included is because people would worry they won't stack up as high...and if you are that worried about it then you got problems.

how about a spoonie tournament too and goose and duck catergories?

I think the points need to change too, just because the someone can only hunt a place that has ringnecks, spoonies, teal, and an occasional pintail or mallard does not mean they should be penalized for getting a limit of crap birds. Maybe +1 point for Drakes, -1 for Hens, and +3 for band.

It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

I won't even enter. But heck, you might as well add coots, mergansers, rails, gallinules, snipe, and woodcock. How many points for each of those?

It was alot of fun last year watching everyone post up their pictures.

On one hand you can look at it as a killing contest, but on the other hand you can look at it as a way to measure yourself with other waterfowlers here on the forum.

I think its a good idea, and hopefully I will get out enough this year to participate.

The problem with geese is there is no limit late in the season. NO GEESE, we covered this last year.

I will think about changing the point system. I like Sigs idea.

then why not end it with duck season before conservation season starts?

We didnt cover it last year because you didnt listen. There are limits on canada and specks...3 and 2. Also if you are worried about someone having too many birds you just limit the maximum bird count for any one day. I think most that are playing would be in favor of adding geese. And if you add other migratory birds that would be fine too. I've never shot a snipe and probably won't but I really don't care if it's on there.

As far as no limit late in the season...that's not correct...the season limit is always the same. You are thinking conservation season when there is no limit. When regular waterfowl season is over the tournament is over so conservation season would not count anyway.

I think the max bird per hunt rule would cure any problem you have with adding geese. You could say the max is 5, 6, or 7 if you wanted.

I like the 1-3 point scale as well. Did the birds we got in early teal count?

I think we should count geese too. We can add the snows as .5 points each if that is the problem.

I also like adding the snipe, sandhills, etc.

Count me in...I love the pics. I vote no geese- if this is a DUCK hunting tourny. I do like the 1-3 point scale though.

If that noob, rookie Legband joins in, he may give J.J. a run!

I enjoy watching the competition, the pics & reports, and all the comments the contest brings to the board. You can never please everyone, imagine all the whiners that would complain if the contest had some $$$$$ or prizes for the winner Keep it simple as it is now, I may even post some pics from my 1 or 2 hunts I have scheduled this year!

Well if yall want to keep this just a duck hunting only that's fine. I think sometimes if you don't like something and after working to get it changed nothing happens then it's time to look at other options. I think I'm going to do a waterfowlers tournament for those that are more open. That way people can pick which tournament they want to be in...just one or both.

Someone did an end of the year, maybe the last 3 weeks, mini tourney last year where we added geese and no one had a problem with that.

Since the contest is only for braggin' rights, I think it would be a good idea to have a separate goose contest. Suprised we didn't have a dove one this year!
Just hope ol' Sniper John doesn't axe for a Snipe contest, I may give him a real run for his money on that one!

I'm not going to do goose only...I'm going to do it all. Hell I'll add snipe in there. I don't think I'll add coots because most people don't eat them even if they shoot them. I've never shot one and won't cause I won't eat it...I don't want people to shoot them just to score points.
I'm also going to have sandhill cranes.
