Just wanted to share...There are a few of us on here that have been members for a few years for the duck and goose lease stuff. Even though I could dove hunt there I don't bother with it since I have plenty of spots close to home. I'm actually on it again this year. Scott runs a clean outfit...if you had one bad experience then let him know...if things don't improve don't sign up again.

For me...I've actually been super happy with the outfit otherwise I would not be on it again for the 3rd year. It's been everything you'd want one of these clubs to be. All the horror stories I've heard about Waterfowl paradise...is nothing like my experience with CPO.

As far as dove hunting goes...I can imagine how opening day/weekend could have been a zoo. Also keep in mind CPO has individual memberships and group memberships. With a group membership you will always get a private spot but with an individual membership they will lump you with other people. If you want a private spot then get a group membership.

Quote. "With a group membership you will always get a private spot but with an individual membership they will lump you with other people. If you want a private spot then get a group membership."

The guy wasn't expecting a prime spot all to himself. No need to burn a guy that had a bad experience. He didnt say CPO was a bad outfit, and even mentioned he did not have all the details if Slemp was even working with/for CPO. Slemp could have been telling a lie. The guy just portraid the bad opener he had and why.

No need to run and defend then call the guy out, and tell how how to buy a membership. I'm pretty sure he was aware there would be plenty of other people in the field with him on opening day.

Ps I don't even know the guy that had the original post.

How the hell did I burn the guy? And I didnt call anyone out. You are off base on this one AggieDuck. I'm rereading my post and wondering how you came to that conclusion. CPO was getting slammed so I wanted to tell my experience...I was not attacking anyone. But the thing is I know Scott and over the years I've meet a lot of guides and outfitters. He runs good operation and I don't want people to lump him in with some idiot that was screwing over people. So yeah if there is someone getting attacked online and other people that have not clue are piling on then yes if I'm a friend then there is a need to run and defend...but again I didnt call anyone out.

People are quick to make assumptions...that's what it seems like.

I found the waterfowl paradise the most interesting part of the story. Once Slemp was involved I got excited.

No assumptions about him involving slempdaddy in his operation, that seems to be a fact...

I've heard good things about CPO and got nothin against em, but it seems like about the worst idea ever to hire that dbag and his big ugly wrapped truck to cruise around your property all season.

Well then just take my original post at face value..I along with several others that are on this forum have had great experiences with CPO for the last two years...so good that I am on it again this year. That's my main point.

If you want to compare that with one guy had a bad experience one day...then go ahead. I've been on this forum for a while I guess and I've had tons of interaction and dealings with guides and outfitters. I have level headed expectations...some people that have not had that interaction might have unrealistic expectations and will get upset about things that are kind of unreasonable to get upset about.

I wonder how his actual hunt turned out...he left that out.

Marcstar I don't think that you were calling me out. As for the morning hunt, 5 shooters got 9 birds. 3 at the initial spot we had chosen that turned into the parking lot and 6 more at the next place we tried.

I am not bitter, just disappointed with my experience as I said I still had fun just being out with my boy. I think the problem was a combination of lack of communication and different expectations.

Alan Treybig is who I dealt with and I think that he is an honest guy but maybe between the time I signed on to the lease and opening day some things probably changed. One thing that did bother me was that on Sunday atternoon and Monday morning we hunted different fields but I still ran into day lease people. The only constant was that everywhere we went it seemed we would run into the Waterfowl Paradise truck.

I will continue to go out and hunt, spend time with my son and try to he more realistic about my expectations. If it was just me having a bad experience that would be one thing but it was my entire group and others I spoke with. Sadly, not every hunter is a member of THF. grin

I am sure that many have had great experiences with CPO. I did my research on this group before handing over my money. I may end up yet being one of them. They are generally well regarded. I don't measure my success by how many birds I shoot but the overall experience. Opening weekend was a bust for me on that score but there is a lot of season left. up

Cheers everyone.

He'll be on the river again most likely during big duck, so maybe you will see less of him.

I think the OP said he had set up on a field that was supposed to be for hunting, only to be told that CPO was going to make it a parking lot..... don't know if Slemp made the call or?

slemp

inadvertently screwing someone over.
Well, I was going to hang out with Nate today, but he slemped out on me.

I made a pizza today, and Jim totally slemped the last slice.
