Absolutely- I switched to #4 on the recommendation of a friend of mine who was in law enforcement for 30 years, he saw several incidents where a shotgunner completely missed the target at close range.

That being said I trust my ability to hit a less than precisely aimed shot with my 870 above all others. I've spent too much time shootin stuff with it...

From the police chief I took my CHL through...I have a flashlight in the master bathroom off the bedroom. If intruder is breaking in or inside the home, go to the bathroom with Glock 23, turn flashlight on and point at the closed bedroom door while taking a knee. Hold the flashlight extended up high above the head with the non-shooting hand, as if the perp has a gun too, they will always shoot at the light...leaving you safe underneath it...and light him up with the Glock when he opens the door to come in. Wife will be in the tub on the sheltered side of bathroom calling 911.

I've got a 7ft spear from Cold Steel. I tease my wife saying a charging 6'4 naked man with a 7ft spear will probably scare someone off faster.

Am I the only one that doesn't lay down at night dreaming of being woke up and shooting an intruder?

I got a 45 colt ruger Blackhawk in my sock drawer, but its on the other side of the room and its not loaded. If im woke up by a noise the first thing I do is take my dog out to do its business or see how much it rained before it woke me up.
