Got drawn for an archery hunt there. Can anyone say what the deer herd is like in this part of ther state? This will be my first time in that area. Thanks.

I grew up in Abilene and never hunted the state park but I have seen LOTS of deer there. Saw some good bucks too. I took my hunters education class at the state park and someone hit a buck with their vehicle and cut its head off at the entrance. The game warden showed up to class and jumped up and down about how he was going to catch that sorry SOB. (Not to get off subject)

Anyways, from what I have seen, I think you will have a good hunt! I look forward to hearing how it goes. Good luck!!

Thanks. I hope so! I hear there's not a lot of trees you can use a climber on. Thats primarly how I hunt. Is that true?

I never hunted the state park, but there are lots of deer in the area. Some real nice ones, but mostly average.
