this ever happen to anybody?

we went to check my buds stand. It's a 10 foot homemade tower blind, with no windows.
well, when he opened the door he discovered an owl had taken up residence there. There was about 4 inches of owl crap on the floor, going up the walls and chair. (and if you've never seen owl droppings, let me say it's rather unique ).

suffice to say we're going to put windows on our stands from now on.

Not being a smart ace, but i think what he means by no windows, is that he doesn't have windows that close.

We have several stands with sliding windows and some how they get opened and the owls take up roost. We had to move a stand once and the owl had laid its eggs on the floor in a make shift nest. Lots of droppings and owl pellets. Pretty nasty but the eggs were great sunny side up!!

Yep. "owl grease" and "slicker than owl (poop)".

There's a cheap and easy fix without going through the trouble of hinges or slides for windows. Go to the hardware store or some cut-rate place like WalMart and get some fiberglass screen. Then take some cammo paint and spray it good and proper. Then when your there just cut a piece of switchcane or a good straight stick and some stay-ties and make yourself a covering. Works like a charm.

Been there done that with owls in stands. Wait until you get a buzzard taking up residence in a stand. This WAS a nice 4 X 6 Corporate Blind on a 15 foot tower. YUCK

Put a crow decoy on the top of your blind! Crows and owls do not get along at all! ! !

But yeah.... opening the door and having an owl fly at your face does tend to make you leave the ladder rather fast sometimes!

We found 2 stands with owls in them this year, they do make a mess, 1 cleaned up pretty easy, but I think we need to burn the second one

after cleaning the 2-3 inches of owl S out of my stand a few years back, AND after closing all windows (or so i thought), i was met, face to face opening morning with a giant owl....not the best scenario when i was at the top of my ladder, with my gun in tow.....after i changed the window/door "locks", i only had him buzz the tower on occasion while i was in it

Anyone know the law when it comes to situations like this? I know you can't harm them and wouldn't want to, but are we breaking the law by running them off??
