They are neat. I think its harder to keep rodents, snakes, and spiders out of them. A little difficult to climb in and out of. As far as effective I wouldn't say they are more effective than any other type of ground blind. Set any kind of blind up well enough and early enough and you should have no problem. We just have too many copperheads and black widows around here for me to want to crawl into a dark pit to hunt.

We do have copper heads and black widows. I dug the hole this week. Im going to poor a 8x8 slab and have 5 rows of cinder blocks in the ground, then a 48" wood frame top. I should be able to seal it up so snakes will not be able to get in. I'll post picks as I go.

That will be very cool to see. Make sure it's water tight for the portion in the ground.
