Okay, so I've been looking at ATVs and Golf carts trying to decide what would work best as a lease vehicle.

I'd like some opinions for those that use one or the other.

I wouldn't mind a UTV, but they are out of my price range, which is about 2k.

ATV's and UTV's are a much smother ride than a golf cart. With 2k you should be able to find an ATV that is several years old but still in decent shape. 4wd is nice but not a necessity depending on your terrain. I have an ATV dealership and normally bring the biggest baddest one out to the lease and rarely put it in 4wd. I just like to think I'm cool.

I was looking at ATV, but found it was cheaper to buy a geo tracker 4x4 $800.00

I recently got both of my ATV's stolen but have since replaced them.

They were both 2000, Yamaha 400 CC's. One had 4x4. The only time I ever used the 4x4 was when I was pulling a heavy trailer load of firewood. And, I doubt that I needed it then.

Whatever you buy, make sure that it has a title. Lots on Craigs List are advertised with bill of sale only. I wouldn't touch one of those.

Just traded for golf cart last year! It's raised with bigger tires on it. I missed last hunting season. Took it to then lease coupla weeks ago and was very impressed! We don't have any hills etc but it went all over the lease. It's QUIET. Very quiet. Sound has always been my dislike for motorized ATV/UTV? My Honda 4 Wheeler just made to much noise for deer hunting. If your place is really really big get a ATV UTV if it's Smaller I'd get a electric golf cart learn hoe to maintain batteries (keep it on the charger and full of water, biggest cables) and you will love it

i tried the golf cart thing, installed a 6" lift and 23" tires, the ride is just not good. i love the quiteness and if your place isnt too rocky it will probably be ok, but i am back to my rancher for now. when i can afford it i may look at a ranger ev or bad boy/huntve.

Electric Golf cart for me. My main driver was noise; ATVs and side-by-sides are just too loud. We are a small place (400 acres) with lots of pressure around us and spooky deer. When my neighbor fires his ranger up I can easily hear it. No one ever drives the place, so if you drive a truck or ATV thru you shut the place down for a couple days. Also, any gas vehicle makes all sorts of fumes and smell.

The golf cart ride is not as smooth for sure, but it's worth it for the stealth aspect. Of course I don't have 4WD, but you don't need it on most of our place.

My cart will do 22mph and haul 400lbs in the back. That is good enough for me.

If I was on a big place where the deer are used to traffic and vehicles I'd have a Ranger. I think they're the best overall UTV for hunting.

Anything you drive is going to make noise, whether it is the engine or it is the suspension or nuts and bolts making noise. Doesn't matter what vehicle you get. That being said the deer know you are there simple as that.

Yes they may act differently between a truck and an atv depending on how they associate each one. But to get one over the other based off of sound, noise and smell I don't think it is going to be that much of a difference.

I don't agree.

Sure, all vehicles make noise. But, from a quarter mile away which is louder? How about 1/2 a mile? A mile? Today, I walk in from a good ways out. A cart lets me get closer than I would in the truck without disrupting anything, and much closer than you could on an ATV.

I have seen deer on a few ranches that would just stand and stare at a truck because they saw them every day. I killed my best buck down South, and I'll be the first to admit I shot him off the side mirror because he could care less about the truck. Our small-place Hill Co. deer don't do that and will haul tail at the first sight, sound, or smell. You better sneak in, especially if you want a shot at a mature buck. Once they "know you're there" you won't see them.
