Just bought a good used 5 x 14 trailer to haul my ATV and wanted to use the extra space for a heavy duty plastic box to store tools, equipment, etc in. 60" width is too wide (need 58" or slightly less). Have found some nice ones that are 37" wide, but would like something that holds as much as possible.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
HPJ

TxAg,
Thanks for the reply! My trailer will not allow mounting a box on the tongue due to a brace member located there. I do have extra space on the trailer. Saw a couple of possibilities on the web site though.

Search on Craigslist for truck box or job site box. Don't buy plastic I've seen them melt and had one catch fire.

Get metal. They last much longer and more secure than plastic

stop by several pawn shops and pick up one of your own choosing for about 1/3 the price of a new one. you may have to put a hasp on it for a padlock, but i always end up doing that anyway after it gets broken in to and they screw up the factory handle and lock. you can use that to dicker with when buying it too " hey - cain't ya take some off for the busted lock?"

Most of those recessed lock/handle replacement kits are available on line or you might find one at Tractor Supply. They're only put on with rivets. Few minutes with a drill and you got a new lock. Sometimes, if you can get to the back of the lock the cylinder will come out and they are available at auto parts stores.

I mounted a truck toolbox in the front of my trailer. I drilled holes thru the bottom & screwed it to the wood below. Works great.

Use a cross bed truck toolbox. If you then set it up on the side rails, it will leave you a full 14' of floor length under the box and allow for storage under the box.
