Had a guy who owns a local gun shop tell me homeland security came in to another gun shop and buy all the ammo in the shop. What the heck?Do you think this is true or false? If its true why are they doing that?! Ammo is already hard enough to find where it's in stock!
No one had a gun in our hands and we just watched it go. One guy threw his beer can at it.. just in really good shape and also hopefully flip the switch a little faster on my wife.

Is this the same guy who knew a guy that bought an old Harley? Our government buys and uses lots of ammo, but it doesn't come from Academy, WalMart or Joe Bob's Boolit and Bate emporium. Unless you saw it happen I'd say your safe hitting the BS button.
Live right. Do right. Demand the same in others. Screw off. Lie and cheat. Have no regard for the actions of others.

It sounds like BS to me. Govt agencies typically have to purchase through a list of approved vendors that are on the GSA schedule. While p-card purchases are allowed, they typically have a ton of approvals and the business case must be quite strong. I also suspect the cost of "all the ammmo" in a gun shop would well exceed their p-card maximums. It's safe to say that almost any rumor/conspiracy you hear about the government buying something in quantity in this economy is probably BS. If anything I suspect it was probably just some off-duty DHS agent who came in and bought a box of 9mm for personal use, then the story got blown out of proportion

If anything I suspect it was probably just some off-duty DHS agent who came in and bought a box of 9mm for personal use, then the story got blown out of proportion We do a lot of battery business with Federal agencies - mostly DHS, FBI, Air Force, NOAA and USGS. Using credit cards, the weekly maximum amounts are all over the board, but generally between $3K and $9.9K. Some of our business is "sole source - no equal" which widens the purchase maximums with cards. Once the purchase hits $10K, paperwork becomes the king of the hill and the Visa cards aren't used. Below $3K, it's "as needed" and seems to be up to the supervisor(s) to justify, with a paper trail. Hard for me to imagine a DHS guy making a very large purchase of a commodity item like ammo instead of through GSA channels. But, I've also been around long enough to see enough - to not scream BS unless I was there........... Marc
