forgot my boots at home. Good thing I have an awesome dad who took me to walmart to get me a pair of boots. x2. Except my Dad had no sympathy. I got to hunt all [cold] weekend in my baseball cleats. Not sure why I had them on in the first place... I guess they made me run faster and jump higher. I did shoot my first deer that weekend, though.

Many times hunters leave their license at home more than anything else.
What astonishes me more is what they leave here at our place when the hunt is over.

....was 60 miles away from the house headed to the lease when I realized I forgot my rifle....thank God I wasn't 200.... ...thought of a few more.... - keys to the gate...had to remove barbed-wire from a section and cut some trees to get the camper in (with land owner permission of course..he laughed and said he'd done the same thing several times and he just lives down the road) - keys to the camper...had to remove a window and lift my son in to unlock the door - hunting license

I was bringing my trailer to the lease last year, loaded it up, locked the door and then left the key on the kitchen table. Figured it out when I blew a tire and realized the spare was in the trailer. I pulled the shreaded tire, dropped it off at discount tire and drive an hour back to the house to get the key
Thanks, Rich

Im laughing after reading all this because just about everything listed here so far has also been left at my lodge by hunters. The same things hunters leave before the hunt starts, they leave after the hunt.

I was on a business trip once, close to some family land, and figured I would bring my 22 and do some scouting and squirrel hunting on one of my days off. So, I pull up to the gate, and get out of the truck to change clothes. Guess what I forgot! I ended up hunting in slacks and a nicely starched shirt.

Left my pistol box in our cabin at an old lease, we had trouble with thieves (E tex) so Monday after work I drove 3 hrs back to the lease & 3 hrs back home, couldn't leave them there.
One time on a new Quail lease in West Texas, we pull up to the gate & realize we didn't have the key that had been mailed to me by the lease manager. Like most places, if you look hard enough you can usually find another entry, we did.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I don't remember leaving anything at home that I couldn't live without.
BUT I have stuff at the lease that I had to turn around and go get... keys, wallet, money, glasses, dentures...

Boots - hunted that weekend in my nice ostrich boots, and scuffed them up a lot more than I liked. Also cleaned two deer wearing them, which didn't help anything.
I think that may be the only thing I forgot to take on a hunt, but I leave something behind about half the time. Sunglasses are the worst; pillow, shirt, jacket...

Bolt to my rifle. I got a call from a buddy that owns some land, long story short it was perfect weather, got there at perfect time with plenty of sleep. Everything was great till i spot a hog and go to chamber a round. Had a hard time working the bolt till i look down and realize there wasnt one in it. Needless to say i saw an honest 20-30 does and so did my buddy. Lol i bet i wont do that again.

Years ago, we had a friend of our family go on a hunt on a high end HF property, where for something like $2,500 he could shoot any buck he wanted except for 2-3 that he was shown pictures of. He told the guide he wanted to hunt the entire day, since that was the only day he was going to be there - so they dropped him off near his blind with a cooler full of sandwiches and water and said not to get out of the blind for any reason, unless nature called...and they'd pick him back up a little after nightfall. He said he got up in the blind, set up everything, opened the windows and then went to put the bullets in his rifle....OOOOPPPPPSSSS! He forgot the bullets. No cell phone and no walkie-talkie, so he had no way to have the guide come back to pick him up. Most expensive hunt I've ever heard off. Said he saw some of the biggest deer in his life and shot every one of them...with his little finger gun.

I left boots behind once and had to endure a three-day hunt in boat shoes.
On one public hunt I had all my gear, but left most of it in my ground blind to drag out a deer I shot. I loaded up the deer in the truck and headed back into the woods on foot to retrieve my chair, coat, bag, binoculars, etc. from the ground blind, and was about halfway there when I realized I had left my rifle in the truck along with the deer. I felt very naked on that walk in and back. Everything looked like a snake and everything sounded like a boar.
