I think you'd be asking for trouble if a GW caught you with a 22 rifle in the blind.
That said, I've done a considerable amount of work to mine. I've got a Shilen match grade barrel, Power Custom trigger (to be replaced by a KIDD), I've got a titanium extractor on order right now as a matter of fact. It has a custom thumbhole stock for silhouette shooting. The options for these things are almost limitless.

One of the best mods you can make to a 10-22 is to put an aftermarket bull barrel on it. You can use the factory hardwood stock by opening up the barrel channel, cutting the forend just behind the barrel band and rounding it off, and then rough up the stock with 120-grit sandpaper and then paint it with black bedliner paint. The trigger can be improved by polishing it up, or you can buy aftermarket trigger parts like a Power Custom adjustable sear. Or you just buy a complete aftermarket trigger. The bottom line is that you can make a pretty nice rifle out of a 10-22 for pretty darned cheap if you want, or you can get as extravagant as you like!

Just google 10/22 custom for some ideas, or go to youtube and type in "my ruger 10/22" and you will find tons of results.

Best thing you can do is get a threaded after market barrel and a suppressor...

Is there any particular brand of barrel you recommended?

If you go to RimfireCentral.com that is the best site for info on all things rimfire. I am a member of that forum as well. Tons of great ideas.
I like Tactical Solutions barrels myself...very light and come in several different colors.

+1 on rimfirecentral.
For easy mods, do a search for the auto-bolt release modification. It's very simple to do with a dremil and takes about 15 minutes. You'll also appreciate not having to dork with that stupid bolt release catch on the bottom of the rifle.
I also replaced some of the other internal parts with power customs stuff to lighten up the trigger and replaced the bolt buffer with a rubber one.
Thanks, Rich

Tactical Solutions for sure. Thats what I have on my build and it drives tacks. I shoot out the tacks on the target at 50yards all day.

Where you at? I'm currently in Forney and if you could get out this way I'd show you some tricks. With JB Weld you can make an auto bolt release by filling most of the slot and making it a pivoting part. No cutting or grinding necessary. I say start with the trigger. With polish and patience you can get a <3# trigger. With a small piece of JB Weld you can make a pad on your disconnector and eliminate almost all creep. Too many choices for barrels, but if you buy a target type you will probably need an aftermarket extractor. With out a better idea of what you want it's to open with possibilities. Good luck. PM me if I can be of help.
