I'm going to pick up a scope for my AR this morning. Was thinking about the Nikon 223.

Just wanting go keep it under $350 and that includes the mount.

Any other suggestions?

Check out the Leatherwood CMR 1-4 at SWFA. I think they have a mount included for under 350. It is good glass and a sweet reticle. Just my .02

That's what I went with. For a gun I highly doubt I ever shoot past 125-150 yards it made more sense. Pretty clear little scope and the reviews I read were really good.

Picked up another side charging handle and ammo with the money I saved.

Question...

I bought the slanted Nikon mounts for $49.

I saw the mounted both ways but I thought they looked better with one turned in and the other turned out (some had them both facing forward).

Is there a right and wrong way?

Technically, yes, there is a right and wrong way. Both mounts need to be atop the receiver, otherwise it is *possible* that there could be movement of the front mount when attached to front rail. Some will also suggest that the scope may not hold zero and could possibly be damaged with the front mount on the rail.

The Nikon mounts are great pair it with a Nikon scope and your gtg. Look at a higher magnification. Unless all you looking at shooting is 150-200

The Nikon P-223 3-9x40 (with BDC reticle) with the Nikon mounts are what I have on my AR. Nothing fancy but I really like the setup.

I like my leupold mark ar.... I picked it up used for less than 350. It already had the bdc turret for the .75 grain bullets, a kill flash, etc. might be something to look at.

The Leupold Mark AR is a nice scope for the money and the BDC turrets are nice they work as advertised. Leupold can also make custom turrets for any load you want. I just put one on a Daniel Defense M4 and I like it so far.

I picked up a Acog 4x (TA31HG) it's good out to 400 yards and can be used up close with both eyes open. Great for a flat top AR.

While the Nikon is a good choice, I would get Leupold's Mark AR and we have a kit set up with it.

You get all this for only $319.95.

How do the mounts that come in with the SWFA p223 combo compare to the nikon mounts?

A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

I bought a Vortex Crossfire 4x12x50AO and the Burris PERP fixed sight. I like it. Scope is a little big, but also nice and bright. Have on;y had it a few weeks.

Honestly the do not.

Depending on which one you specifically talking about, but I do not like using rings on a M4. I really prefer to use a cantilever mount, like the SSALT mounts, PEPR Mounts and several others.

Put a 35 year old Leupold 2x7 on my AR. Works just perfect!
