I know we have some anti-gander people here, and someone might have already said something about this before, but..

The new firearm super center in the college station one was jaw dropping. They said they added it a month ago. The selection is amazing, idk about prices but they had tons of workers that were very helpful and knowledgable. I picked up more guns than I ever do in any retail store. Other stores it is a pain in the butt to get someone's attention or that is free to help out. Taking numbers at bass pro etc. Also I am usually asked for id to handle a handgun, I turned 21 this year. They didn't bother me about it. Which they could've asked and I am not sure if it is a law to id people or if it is just some gun shop policy. I would've been happy to slide over my chl in a heartbeat though.
I am surprised how it was not very busy on a saturday.

Anyone else been there? Where are the other ones with this many firearms? Lewisville? Likes? Dislikes?

The selection just astounded me and service was exceptional

In my home town in West Virginia we had a Gander Mountain come and I never really liked it that much. Never could get any help, and everything was over priced. Then a Cabelas came to the same shopping center, and Gander Mountain revamped their entire store. They became the states largest firearms dealer. Basically dedicated the entire back wall and most of one side wall to a firearms counter. It is pretty impressive to walk along a firearms display that is literally a 150-200 yards long.

Went through there a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the service most of all. Completely different atmosphere with tons of employees willing and waiting to help.

I was able to pick up 4 boxes of 9mm there since Academy was sold out, so that was good. The wall of firearms in the back was impressive, but prices are still high. They reduced the size of the bow area, and I couldn't find any tree stands of any kind on display. Game camera selection was reduced too. Better selection online, but if I'm going to do that, I can find better prices on Amazon!

I still go to Academy next door for a few things, but it's turned into more of a Wallyworld type store since quality, selection, and service have gone out the window.

I appreciate the effort by Gander, but they still have a ways to go. If you could take their selection and service and combine it with Academy's prices you'd have a good store.

Champion Firearms is actually pretty hard to beat if are you in or even just in the vicinity of College Station. Plus, they are a locally-owned business.

I agree the Gander in C.S. is impressive. They still run there prices higher than average but have a large selection of different guns. I still prefer Champion, I have bought three guns from them and have always been happy with the price and service.

Expect close to full retail at GM, except on sales items, if you just have to have it now, they likely have it. Used guns they're a bit schizophrenic in pricing.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype
