Does anyone else work or know someone who knows everything about hunting and shooting? I have a friend who is gods gift to hunting. He told me the other day that deer didn't get velvet until August, even after I showed him pics he argued. He will argue with anyone who buys anything but Leopold optics. I don't have any problem with Leopold in fact they are dn fine optics but there are other good brands out there. I refuse to buy them just on principle. Let me know about your experiences. Should I tell him to shut the hell up or continue to listen to his one track mind.

Everyone knows that guy.

Just ignore them or point it out loudly when something works out to the contrary of what they are touting

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I have a buddy that has low self esteem and is always looking for approval. He told me one morning in April that he had a couple "real nice tens" in his yard in Bedias.

Like an a-hole I let him embellish the story for awhile before pointing out to him that bucks have all dropped their antlers and are in the beginning of regrowth phase in April.

He argues with me to this day that he had 2 hard-horned, gorgeous bucks April 20th. I know he made it up.

You can have fun with "know it alls" and "toppers". Just ratchet up your discussion until they sound ridiculous in their attempts to show off their "knowledge" or "top" you.

There are a couple on here....

Wait a minute...I was telling a guy at work about some 10 pointers I saw in my yard last April....

And I always buy leupold and only recommend Leupold...

It's a little known fact tha zebras are verticaly striped to make themselves appear to be more slender.
(Is that considered a one up?)

I think every group of people know someone like that (or YOU ARE that guy smile ). That is the guy that if you harvested a nice 9 point, he got a 10. Or you bought a new rifle that cost X amt, he bought one for X +$25. And on and on.
roflmaoMAYBE they are the guy like on the commercial that is over 40 and suffering from LOW T???
Sometimes you just have to let what they say go in one ear and out the other because it ain't worth the hassle to correct / argue.

As much as y'all hate to admit it, some of us do in fact know everything. Well, I don't know everything. Just most of everything. Now take stxranchman, he knows EVERYTHING. Of course, by the time I get to be his advanced age, I should know everything too. I'll probably find a mountain to sit on and wait for people to climb up and ask me stuff.

That's for sure. Unless you're a true scientist who makes new discoveries, everything you know comes from from either first-hand experience, or from the knowledge and experience of others.

I have seen mature bucks with their antlers in late April. If u have some doe fawns that come in late, the mature bucks will keep their antlers well into april in some parts of the state. This was between del rio and Sonora. I saw fresh scrapes in late march that year too. So, unless I'm lying, or unless deer near Bedias never have late fawns... Ur friend just might HAVE seen mature bucks with their antlers in late April. On my ranch I'n Zavala co. I always see a few mature bucks with their antlers in mid April.
