I'm headed to Louisiana in two+ weeks to hunt 'gator.
Just mailed off the mule deer draw.

We drew the youth hunt last year. Not this year and he will not be eligable for the youth hunts next year. So we are very happy to get drawn for Engeling this go round. I am going to go tell him right now. He is going to be excited. As am I because this time I get to hunt too.

Below is some old forum links where some of the same questions have been asked. Only we will not be on the coastal marsh so you probably don't have to have a boat. We are on a three day hunt, and only hook and line is allowed on the engeling hunt. Gus Engeling has only had one hunt before. Year before last. My nephew and I drove down there to try and get on standby, but lost out in the hat draw, so went alligator gar fishing instead. I never did check on the success rate to see how they did on that hunt, but I doubt it is near as high as on the coast. Though I have never alligator hunted Engeling before I have been on several gator hunts. I am no stranger to Gus Engeling though. I bowhunted deer there as far back as the early 1980s when they had September bow hunt draws. When I tried to get on standby at the first gator hunt there, I asked about a very large known female gator I remembered seeing during a couple of my bowhunts. They said she was still there and DNA tests showed her grown babies where all over other parts of the WMA.
