I love bow hunting!! I'm hooked. Went to Hunt's bow hunting ranch this week to hunt Fallow deer. We got in the blind before sun up and put out some corn. First in were some rams. We could see the Fallow about 400 yards away making his way slowly toward the blinds. Finally after about 1/2 hour the chocolate fallow appeared from behind and right of us in the creek bottom. He charged at the feeder and ran off the rams that were there. I drew back as he stood under the feeder with his back end toward me. After what seemed like an eternity (probably only 5 seconds) the buck turned and offered me the perfect quartering away shot. I took aim and let fly and the arrow actually hit right were I was aiming. All that practice paid off. The broad head lodged in the off side shoulder destroying the heart. The buck only ran 40 yards before stopping, rocking and falling over backwards. It was awesome!! Thank you to Ricky for all his help. He sat in the blind with me to make sure I shot a good buck and help me out since it was my first bow hunt. He's one of the nicest men I've met. Salt of the Earth. Here's the money shot. I used the Ulmer Edge 100 grain mechanical broad head.

Yeah, Bu2herndog, there are still some big and maybe bigger ones out there.
But I was looking for a chocolate and he came in first and was very tempting.
I liked the definition of his points, his symmetry and he was wide so I went ahead and took him an I am VERY PLEASED.
It will make a nice mount I think.
Anyone wanting a fallow should contact Ricky. There still are some big ones out there.
