Keep in mind, I've never built a blind before grin I also knew that I didn't want to spend a small fortune for one and I didn't like the small ones anyways, so 4x8 it is blush

I was able to talk my father in-law in helping me out, without his help, I'd still be putting up walls. Thanks a bunch Herman.

If the images don't show up, Picasa makes it real hard to embed them, the album link is Picasa shared album (Also, if you want to see all of them)

Right now, a total of 9 screws are holding it together. We made it to tear-down, move, then re-assemble a 4 hr. drive away.

Its going to be sitting on top of 4x4 posts 4ft high and should be good enough to sleep in if needed. Lots of winders and shelves and its ready for propane tank plumbing for the cold. There is still some little stuff to take care of, but it should more then fit the bill I would think.

After this little project, I can see why some guys charge so much for the blinds they build and sell. Very far from perfect, and a great learning experience.

Base is built along with the start of the walls.

General layout of the walls.

Walls done.

Front is done with drip rail, yeah its not perfect, even tilted.. crazy

Paint is applied.

Gotta break it up right?

I'll take some more pics once its up and in place out where I'm hunting. Like I said, first time, so don't beat me up to badly... grin laugh hammer

Nothing to be beat up about - looks great. After building one from ground up a few years ago, it made me realize how much work could go into building something as simple as a wooden box!

Looks good. Even a single color of paint is fine. Everyone gets all happy with the camo paint, but you don't need it. As long as it is out on the place for a while before season starts, you will be fine and the deer will just get used to the new landscape.

Well, I said I'd post when it was setup and here it is. Took some doing only because of the 3 days of rain that Haskell, TX. had gotten which was weird for them this time of year. Nothing like mud to slow you down. I'm really glad we had water bottles and kept taking Breaks... don't want to do this again for awhile.. cool
Link for all the pics- blind build

Office chairs...;-) Thanks to HR, they didn't need them anymore.

Some parts and pieces..

Trailer loaded up...

Starting to look like a blind now..

Gratuitous self pic, just ignore the uglies.. crazy

Thanks guys... going out this weekend to put the finishing touches and get the rest of the stuff setup for bow season. Hopefully, we get to see some pig Friday night while we are there.

First season bow hunting and using the old popup blind, wish me luck..;-)

And no, no concrete, not enough water available, used 2ft. metal post holders, and guide cables, adding some cross supports and some other stuff Friday while we are there for better stability. It works now, I just went through a storm out there a few months ago and know the winds can get crazy, so I'm gonna add the extra support "just in case", better safe then sorry.

Nice build on the blind. May want to add some foam where the metal roof meets the walls to help keep the bugs put and definitely add more supports. Built a 4x4 on top of a 5 ft metal stand. I have it supported by 2x4x14's for now and is holding up well to the winds in Rocksprings.
