OK picked up a like new 1100 yesterday with the plug not installed. Put the plug in and did what curiosity calls for. Cycled one into the chamber and two into the magazine, three would not go. Fantastic so it seems. Go to empty gun and eject the first shell. The srcond one falls into the bottom but does not cycle to the chamber. Is this how it works that you have to manually cycle every shell to remove shell from the gun or is there something wrong with it. I'm thinking that maybe for the gun to cycle the next shell into the magazine it has to have the inertia of the fired shell first. What say yee.

Thanks in advance

bought a used 1100 the day i turned 18, and shortly after signing up for selective service...

anyhow - if you do the action REALLY quick, it should autoload the next shell with no problem.... if you do it slowly, it won't work. i figured this out one day after getting pissy about it not chambering the next unshot round...

give it a try and chime back in...

Tried that already and then again after you suggested it and still no go. The gun looks to have been fired very little

Checked the remington manual on-line and it does not state that you have to hit the carrier release button to unload it. Just cycle the bolt. Must have been sold a bill of goods So if anybody knows my problem or any suggestions chime in

huh.... are you pulling it all the way down and releasing it? put the butt of the gun down on something solid, like a table, then give it a shot....

No, they should cycle and eject with each manual pull of the bolt carrier handle. Timing is off, sounds like bent or stuck or mis-aligned shell stops, or improperly seated magazine tube

I have contacted Remington on this issue because both of my 1100s (20 and 12 ga) do the same thing - I can manually eject the shell in the chamber but the chanber stays in the open position - mostly cause there is no pressure from the gas to operate all the parts. I have to manually press the release on the bottom to action it forward and continue that process until empty. Remington will reply by Wednesday (You should receive a response from our service department within the next 2-3 business days. Thank you for your patience). I believe it is works as designed but not sure.

I had time to put a few shells in the gun and fire it this morning. The gun functioned flawlessly. I guess the reason it stays in the open position when unloading is that it keeps the gun from being put in a fire mode. You can depress the carrier release to send the shell back in the chamber and then just pull back on the bolt to empty the round or flip the gun upside down and have the shell roll out of the reciever. Let me know what Remington response is when you gety it.

Thanks James

I had this problem many many years ago.It seemed that I had not seated the plug correctly after I had taken it out.Just a thought.
