Just pulled these this weekend. I know he is big,but how big do you think this guy is? My passion is big hogs and I have shot some big ones, but I always love seeing big ones on cam..just wanted to share...FYI...the cattle cocked my camera,so the pic isn't as straight as it should be...

Probably not as big as you'd think. They always look huge to me on camera then when I kill them there is a ton of ground shrinkage. I bet he's around the 200 mark though, but he is built like a barrel.

Judging weight from images is fairly imprecise. Matters are further compounded when there are problems of forced perspective, lack of proper/known size scales, and when the image is obvious distorted by some means. In this case, I take it that you took a bizarrely angled picture of your computer screen that showed the picture of a hog that is close enough to the camera that his butt looks significantly oversized compared to his head. On top of that, the camera is very close to the ground which makes the pig look taller than it is.

Given the size of the t-posts, however, he looks to be under 26" tall. He is full but isn't particularly bulked out. He is probably somewhere between 150-190 lbs., so not particularly big yet. Again however, given the image configuration, that guess could be off by a good bit. He could be smaller.

Thanks for opinions...As far as ground shrinkage goes..that only happens to me on deer...lol..Anyway, I have shot a lot of pigs from this location and the ones I think are 100 lbs turn out to be way bigger...I will get some pics of other hogs for prospective..

Well, it is a kinda comparison where you take other unknowns. Are they 30 lbs each?

The problem isn't with the hog, but the screwy angles of the images, forced perspective, the wide angle lens of the game camera, etc. Maybe he is bigger. Maybe he isn't. The fact still remains that they are poor images on which to base a solid weight estimation and added unknowns for comparison that are shown from a different perspective and at a different distance doesn't really help.

I'm thinking he is over 300.. It's really hard to tell because like the above poster stated about the different variables. I get the usual 60,80,100,130 pounders and the fact this guy is solo and just his appearance tells me his big. Is he as big as the guy?? I don't think so,but I doubt it..

I always take a steel rod and drive it in the ground then paint a stripe 36" up. That way I have a reference point on my pics. Don't tell you their weight, but lets you know how tall they are so you can guesstimate a little better.
