I have a feeder set up and running in a location where I plan on taking my daughter out with her crossbow. I've got an area picked out for a pop up but was wanting some opinions on when to set it up. I don't typically hunt pop ups and am mildly concerned that if I set it up too early, it may get torn up by the elements; if I wait too long, the deer may be spooked by it. Thoughts?

I get mine set up at least a month before I plan on using it...then re-brush it in as needed 2 weeks prior.

I don't even brush mine if I get it set up far enough in advance.

If I'm gonna set it up a month or more in advance I wouldn't worry as much about brushing in. If I setting it up less than a week from hunting i'm gonna brush the ever loving heck out of it

I had my primos 360 vision ground blind set up for over a year at my old lease and it never got torn up. I just made sure it was staked down and tied down with good tent stakes and never had an issue. We set it up about a month before season...

Thanks a lot for the input! Now if I can decide on a blind that doesn't cost as much as my truck payment, I'll be ready for opening day...

I put my up the same day and have absolutely no problems. just back it up in an existing clump of bushes. throw a little corn out in front and they are standing right out in front eating corn in less than 2 hrs.
When you need a Piano moved there is always someone around to help you with the stool!

I agree with everyone else. A month before should be good. If you can set it up sooner it will not hurt anything. I set one of mine up last weekend, but it is in a spot that will not hurt the pop-up. It is under a group of trees out of the sun and weather.

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Usually the mid day for an evening hunt and the night before for a morning hunt, done right it works just fine.

I prefer to set mine up the first time i fill the feeder if I am not feeding year round (which will be tomorrow at my lease). That way the first time a deer shows up the pop up is already there, not something new that shows up later. however, during the season I may change locations and throw a pop up out and hunt it the next day. Sooner is better but you can hunt them almost immediately if they are concealed well.
