I have done some reloading in the past, but am looking for someone that would be willing to come to me and help me on my press. Not looking for you to do the work, just wanting help to make sure im doing what I can to get best results. I have read my manuals, I have watched the countless you tube videos. I have even made some rounds that function properly. Lets just say I want to get with someone that can visually make sure im on the right path. Thanks

Well I will be loading pistol and rifle. I will mainly be focused on 308, 243, 40, 9mm, 38spc, and 357. I have dies, bullets, brass, primers, and powder for the above mentioned rounds.

What path are you trying to go down; Speed and quantity or quality?

Pace determines everything...thought there are also a lot of tools out there that can assist depending on your direction.

Precision shooting with slower shots or are you going to the range and knocking out 500rnds in the tac bay?

I can help with 308 or 243. I'll leave the pistol loading to the pistol experts.

For your two rifles; myself and hundreds of other shooters have done their own research prior to loading. Most end up at the same place. For 243 Hodgdon 4350 is the preferred powder, for 308 Hodgdon Varget is the preferred powder. Yes other powders will work well, but the guys I shoot long range precision with tend to use those two powders the most for those two cartridges.

Find out what twist rate your barrels have, and get the appropriate bullet weight for that twist. Shilen barrels and Lilja barrels have nice twist rate charts to give you a range of appropriate bullet for twist. A long (heavy) bullet won't do well in a relaxed twist and a light (short) bullet won't do well in an aggressive twist.

Make sure you have good instruments. A quality caliper in one thousandth increments is very important. And a scale you can trust is very important. A head-space gauge set and bullet comparator set are very important. The measurements in the books are a guide but they are not the gospel. You fit your ammo to your rifle, and every chamber is different when we're talking thousandths.

I am more interested in accuracy.

I will see what exactly I have this evening as far as powder goes when I get home.
For the 308 the rate of twist is 10 on a 24" barrel. (Savage long range hunter)

You can use some heavy bullets on a 1 in 10. I just loaded my first 3 rounds and will be heading to the range later this week to try them.

Put a 178 gr Hornady A-max even with the lands. Test loads from 44.0 to 45.0 of Varget. You will see it shoot somewhere within that area.

I am currently using a rock chucker. ( prob should have stated that from beginning. Sorry). I would be willing to throw some one 20.00 or so fuel money if we can get together sometime.

You might have more luck asking if you could observe someone else reloading, and ask them questions about their setup, why they use certain items, etc. Some folk use only one brand while some of us have gear that is obsolete.
