Mine was a doe when I was 8 from a three man tree house blind in a big old oak tree near Hext, Texas. My Dad forgot his knife so he sent me to the vehicle for it and it turned dark before I returned . To say I was panicked is an understatement. Kept hollering "Dad" about every 10 yards. Don't know what I was more excited about, my first deer or finding my Dad in the dark. 40+ years later, I never have thought to ask him why he thought it was a good idea to send me for the knife.

Doe...I was 12, shot her at approx 15 yds with 12 gauge 00 buckshot. My brother sat me down near a trail crossing, walked off, and jumped her up. She was trotting towards me, looking over her shoulder at him. I shot her, he came running back, thinking I had fired on accident. I realize now that he had been forced by our mom to bring me along that day and was half ticked that I had shot and "scared all the deer away" until I pointed her out. I do believe he was more excited for me than I was for myself
I will get off in a little bit You shouldnt have said that

old buck at 5 yards with a 30-30 in 1975, he had polished bums less than half an inch tall but bigger than a silver dollar and teeth worn almost to the gums. Shot him while he was browsing on a low hanging oak limb hanging from the tree I was sitting in.

My first deer was a 5x5 Elk when I was 27. My first whitetail was a doe 2 months later.

Huge old doe when I was 9 with a brand new 30-06 behind our farm house in the woods near an apple orchard at about 5-10 yards. It was getting dark ans I was about to leave when she almost ran me over and scared the heck out of each other. Only time I've heard a deer vocalize.
