Excuse me? You've hunted the animal, attacked him with dogs, tied him up and put him in a new environment, namely a trailer where you're probably throwing beer cans and cigarette butts at him and you don't expect him to attack? Even a Fox Squirrel would bite you in such a situation. Spare me more fatuous analogies. If you go back to the original intent of the thread it was about what scared you walking to the blind. Your little pig would do nothing to you walking to the blind. It would move off and leave you alone. PT Barnum said it all.

You said - "Excuse me? You've hunted the animal, attacked him with dogs, tied him up and put him in a new environment"

Aha! So you admit they can be dangerous. I knew you would see it my way.

You said - "where you're probably throwing beer cans and cigarette butts at him and you don't expect him to attack"

Let me get this straight, I would never waste a good recyclable on a hog. Now, my Jack bottles and tabaci spit are different stories.

You said - "If you go back to the original intent of the thread it was about what scared you walking to the blind."

Most of us were on the "intent of the thread". You were the one starting with the "would a hog attack" or whatever you asked.

Yep, hogs are so dangerous that when looking at the US Government Statistics for animal attacks on humans, they aren't even listed. I think the word you're looking for is POTENTIAL. Even then it's pretty weak.

I got between a 200 lb sow and her piglets. She came at me at full charge. If I had tripped or fell I have no doubt I would have been in big trouble. I hurdled a 4 strand fence in stride. If you ever see an enraged hog at close range you will feel differently.

Proof? You have no proof except isolated incidents which you have yet to document. TPW has an opinion of how dangerous feral pigs. They don't consider them dangerous. Cougars? Yep a very very few attacks through the years. In the whole US and Canada there are on a average of 5 to 6 attacks and 1 to 2 fatalities per year and it seems there hasn't been one in Texas for at least a decade. As far as off topic and breaking the rules I'd go look in the mirror.

Suprisingly the TPW is ignorant when it comes to quite a few things. Example, Upon finding out there where alligators in Eagle Mountain Lake, a lake i grew up in, i asked a GW friend of mine if they would be removed. He said no, TPW will protect them until they injure or kill someone. DO WHAT? I myself have never seen one, however, as much skiing and water craft use as the lake sees, its a matter of time, then what? Anyone that states wild hogs arent dangerous has never scaled an oak tree with cat like skill with one hot on there heals. Again, Im not afraid of the dark, but will prepare for what is in it. Cant take a deer from the living room. Skinner

Are you serious? You are one of those engineer types huh. If it ain't in the books it can't be so. Funny stuff.

Get out in the woods and hunt instead of talking about it and your view will change. Or PM me for my number and I can take you hog hunting with nothing but dogs. No knives, guns or anything else. Just 3 dogs and duct tape. We'll see how "docile" they are together .

BTW: My new sidearm at the lease will be Sabrinavonbach. Nothing will get close to he/she/it!

I know CH, but listening to someone ramble about something they have no clue about is so amusing. Especially when the poster actually believes they are educating someone and believes their own crap. Kind of like those arm chair quarterbacks. Wonder if this is an armchair hunter???

The key word to her rebuttal is "statistics"! Stats are just a running total of the score so far! Never say never or you will become a "statistic" too SVB.

In my opinon its the what ifs in the dark that scare people. Many things that would be a statistic never become one because of lead medicine. Its all about time afield more time spent in the field the more chance of the unexpected happening. The hog that never got the chance to close the distance that last ten ft or the rattler that I sat next to one deer season that ate lead.Or even the one buck in thirty five yrs of hunting that saw you sneaking threw the grass that thought you were something else and ran right up on you. That buck became backstrap not a statistic. All those things are what keeps us going back.JMO.

Very true, but if you miss, you become the statistic! The main point is to be prepared for that unexpected time when you either have to protect yourself or become the statistic. The more time in the woods, the higher the odds.

Wow, I am new to these forums, but already have seen several sniveling post you have made and just trying to understand if you are actually a hunter or a PETA plant?

Yep according to the USDA, feral pigs if left alone are not dangerous. Like I said they're not even on the radar for human deaths. Not one. Imagine. Honey bees are more dangerous and kill more people. Pigs kill none, even with people hunting them.

Its just here say now because I cant remember where I read the story several yrs ago. But it was about a west tx teen attacked by a boar a serously hurt. And fact is that in thockmorton county I killed a 350# boar that charged me and a young man I was takeing to a spot to sit for hogs. At first I thought the boar was just heading for the sour corn I just dumped at the rivers edge. We were walking across a cut maze pasture and there was no cover. But as the boar got closer I realized it was clacking teeth and headed right to us the boy was carrrying a 7 mag and despite my requests for him to shoot he froze I emptied my 41 mag and hit it twice. The boy then administered the coup de graus. If that aint dangerous then nothin is.
