Has anyone gone hunting with their carbines - any caliber, what distances, what were you hunting, scope- red dot- iron sight. I started with the 9mm not know about the other calibers oh well. I haven't hunted with mine yet, but I'm reloading with 147gr lead cast so give your input

Do you intend to club an animal to death, or actually sling lead at it with your Hi Point club?

Ha ha That's funny, but seriously the clubbing I'll save for baby seals. Besides it has a spring loaded butt stock and it's only going to bounce anyway duh!

People that have never shot a Hi-Point will dog them for no other reason than they are cheap and ugly, once they shoot one their opinions will often change.

I've shot the things. My opinion is the same.

Hipoints are not hunting guns. Gangstas hunt each other in the hood with them. That's about it...

Same as any firearm. Can you hit the vitals at the chosen distance? Its a pistol cartridge, so it has terminal pistol effect, which means it is a hole puncher.

Ok, let me rephrase. If you own a Hipoint give me your opinions, anything else is blah blah blah blah blah Remenber God loves you even if you respond stupidly

I have shot and killed 4 hogs with mine. It is a 995 (9mm) with a frugality red dot. I am zero at 75 yards. All of hog have been at 50 yards or less.

I have shot plenty of hogs with my 9mm while they were in my trap. Drt most of the time. If you wound them with your hp and they die that's good enough for me

115 fmj. I put it in the ear and they fall right there. Then I put 2 more in the head once they go down.

I thought those guns existed so people that could not buy a handgun could still buy a 9mm... hope the hunting works out for you though smile

Shouldn't you go with a heavier pill for hogs? Their hides can be a little thick.

I don't have the carbine, but I have the .45 pistol as my work truck gun. Besides being ugly and heavy, it is a good shooter. Owned it about 2 months now with no jams or misfires, and gives me a 4-5" group at 25 yards. The weight actually helps it give better recoil than my 1911's. With a lifetime warranty, I'll keep shooting it.

High point or no, I've never been a 9mm fan. My son shot a pig from just a few feet away 6 times with a 9mm. As I was cleaning it, I recovered 3 of the rounds between the hide and the meat. The penetration just wasn't there... You won't find a 9 around our place these days...

Years ago, a buddy of mine and I compared his HiPoint with a red dot against my Beretta Storm with a red dot, both in 9mm. We probably put about 500 rounds down range each, switched guns between us, etc. Basically except for looks and magazine capacity, they performed comparably in terms of accuracy and reliability...and my Beretta cost more than 3 times as much as the HiPoint.

I like my Storm better, but in terms of a decent budget gun with less options, the HiPoint appears to be an excellent value for the money. In retrospect, I might have been better off with 3 HiPoints, each configured differently, rather than going with 1 Beretta Storm.

Some people do hunt with 9mm carbines. If you want to do that, there would be absolutely nothing wrong with going with a HiPoint in my opinion as far as functional capabilities.

Always nice to see someone speak/post from actual experience.

That's good to know and to give benefit to everybody. I have other firearms I could use, but as for me a budget is always a factor. So this carbine was something of interest to me. Just like Mossberg 88 was and told it was no good. So constructive criticism is always a better path to follow

The pig was somewhere around 130-150 lbs. to the best of my recollection. He was using Federal Hydra-Shocks. Look, I am not criticizing, just offering my experience with the round. No fluff. If it doesn't match with someone elses experience or isn't what you want to hear...toss it. That doesn't mean that the input can't be constructive for others.

I hope it works great for you... cheers

I appreciate the input, because some say JHP, some say FMJ. I went with lead cast only, because after the Sandy Hook incident finding anything was not going to happen. So to hear from others who have actual experiences in this topic is good for me, Thanks
