When do you guys set up your pop up blinds? The last three years I have pretty much left them in place year round with no issues. I am on a new place and was thinking about setting up my pop up now, or could I wait a little bit longer? It will be brushed in and all that good stuff, but still worry about setting it up to close to season.

I have four and probably will not set them up until last weekend of August. I don't really brush them in either as deer, turkey and pigs have not really cared, they get use to it. I use to leave my DBs out for months but got a couple of different ones but they fade and don't hold up as well.

Because of rain and snow issues, I can't leave mine up all year. Tried w/ one but found it later with snapped poles (fiberglass). I put my popup out about mid August (archery starts Sept 15) and pull the day after the last day of season or after I have 'enough' meat. OK, OK - at the end of the season.

I could build a blind now, but I am going to use a nice pop up blind for all of the upcoming season. I have heard that deer will notice it, but get used to it very quickly. I have actually heard of some deer walking straight up to it, checking it out and going back to eating. I am thinking around when KD said earlier also. When I will be out checking cameras more often and stuff. Not to hijack a thread but I also wonder about the best way to keep critters out, are spiders and bugs a problem too? I guess pop up blinds have bottoms and can be completely sealed, I can't remember how mine is

I would brush it in and put it out now. Mature bucks will need time to be comfortable with it. Other deer not so much.

we have a pop-up we use sometimes. we do not leave it out all the time. we have brushed in areas where we would typically set it. we will put it out for the week/wknd when we are hunting and using it. otherwise we pick it and it stays in camp.

About the only time I use a pop up blind is when my son would get drawn on a youth hunt. These hunts are only a day and half long. What I did was set it up and back it up to some thicker brush. Next was not even brush it in. Had deer come from over 100 yds to just 35 yds to check it out. He killed 2 does 15 min apart. Had 2 GOOD bucks come out and never noticed it. Couldn't shoot any of those since he was on a doe/spike hunt. Next place I've used it was in Kansas. On one hunt, I set it up and backed it into a plum thicket for the next day. Weather was going to be bad that day. In the meantime, I hunted in my lock-on 80 yds away at the other end of this food plot. That afternoon, had a GREAT shooter buck come in and turn toward the pop up. He walked right past it less than 20 yds. So, some places, you really don't need to brush it in. Me, I prefer the deer see it. You know the old sayin, "Curiosity killed the cat"!!!!
