Wood/ blue, tube feed. Been a great gun for many years. The safety switch however goes forward for safety and back for fire. Does anyone else have this model with the same safety switch?

Ummmm.....you don't have to go shot it to see which direction the safety works.

FWIW....I won't by any gun that has a backward safety. My muscle memory is to far trained for a PROPER safety and I would end up tossing it in a riveror something .

never been an issue, different manufacturers put the slide release on pump guns and safety's in different locations all the time.
Thought it was a Marlin thing, but I have looked at other Marlins and they are fire forward. I was just curious if it was just the 783 or if I got a weird one.

Thanks

I have that same rifle. Safety is opposite of the norm just as yours is. I pus a rifle basix trigger in mine. It's a real good shooting 22mag !

I agree, mine shoots great also. Sure wouldn't throw it in the river. LOL

Thanks for your reply.
