I checked my cameras this weekend, and have plenty of pics like this. With the cool/wet weather I'm going to give it a shot tonight. I hope this is the "before" picture and I will be able to post an "after" picture later. Wish me luck!

That is not the right answer!

In all seriousness, however, that is hunting. Better luck next time!

At my buddy's place, one of two that I hunt, I hope to make my attempt this evening. He called yesterday at 5:30 pm and said he was 3 miles up the road from his place and just saw a herd of miniature cattle in a pasture where he had not seem them before. He had to slow for a double-take and said there were 40+ hogs in the pasture, not 50 yards off the road. He noted that the rains appear to be bringing them out of the bottoms, and in the middle of the day, no less. So I will try going to guard his corn this evening. The corn at my place, right now, apparently is safe from hogs as they are not coming with any sort of regularity.

It rained like all hell for about 2 hours, then stopped, the water drained away, and a LOT of deer came out and I saw absolutely zero hogs. I even did a hike through of the property for more than an hour and all I found were bedded down deer and various fat raccoons and rabbits.

The deer are great. It is what the landowner wants there, but bedded down deer seem to be a sign of the deer not feeling threatened and if they aren't being threatened when I show up, then there likely aren't/weren't any hogs around. I found deer bedded down is just about every pasture I checked. They were quite content...so poor hog hunting, but it was a wonderful night after the rains stopped.

That blows. At least you got to get out of the house though. I was wondering, after reading you were going out, if you would be hindered by the weather. Hopefully this rain will benefit you on your next outing since it put a damper on things this time.

Well had I been deer hunting, it would have been a bonanza! So it goes with hunting. The last few years, the summer months are generally the worst time for me to be successful. May and June seem to be best, followed by the cold months (usually December-February). I have gotten one hog this month and that is usually more than I get for July.

think I'd take the Remington 1100 loaded with 00 and shoot amongst them, then I wouldn't be hunting as much as on a slaying mission.
