Looking for a nice case for my bolt action rifle that has cutable foam. I'm looking for something that isn't as heavy as a pelican, or is pelican the only option I have.
Thanks Jchap

I absolutely love the Pelican, not only because I have one, but I've tried the Cabelas brand, SKB, etc only to get busted corners or broken latches. You're right they are heavy but can withstand a good bit of abuse. If you are really concerned about weight, I do believe they make a single case and if you have multiple firearms, order some extra foam and have separate cutouts for each gun.
I have the double case because I always carry two rifles on a hunt anyway.

Is the 1750 the single case? Jchap only needs to carry one rifle.

I have a Tuffpak case that I really like for airtravel. It is not a fancy looking case but they work well. I put my rifle in a softcase and then put it in the Tuffpak and stuff in hunting clothes around it. I have never had a rifle loose zero or been damaged on a trip when flying to a hunt. I learned about them from a friend who has been on trips all over the world and he has never had a rifle loose zero either. It has wheels on one end and handle on the other end. There is a carry handle that is offset out of the middle on one side. If a baggage handler trys to throw it, I have seen it jerk him almost off his feet. They usually just set them down gently if they have ever tried to throw one.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

The Plano version is thinner than the Pelican and about half the price but still a nice case. I still prefer my Pelican but I do have two of the higher end Plano cases that work well.

Where are you going to be transferring? If you are going to the range only I would go soft case as it is easier to manage. If you're flying I would get a pelican

I use Pelican for all my camera gear. Taken those cases all over the world, and not a single problem with my gear when we get to where we are going.
