Went out yesterday to a friends place that had been rutted up really bad lately by hogs. Put out some corn and a bag of hog wild and went back today (about 24 hours later) and nothing had been touched. Im pretty new to hog hunting but is that normal for them to destroy a place one day and have no sign of them the next? Thanks for the help and any advice for future hunts?

Yeah, that is how they work. I can go weeks without seeing hogs, then the next week they are every where. There is no ryhme or reason for their movements.

Leave the corn there and invest in a trailcam. Pop it on a tree near the corn. It will give you a time and date when the pigs are coming out to eat. then set up a blind about 30 yrds (if bowhunting) or 50 yrds (if using a smokepole), then wait. If they are popping up at night, invest in a virnment light (primo's is the best) and SMOKE 'EM.

A good hog is a dead one.

Thats the way it works at my house too. Here today and gone tommorow! Put in a feeder so they get used to having food and they will hang around.

they move depending on where the hunting/shooting pressure is. the only thing that will get them to leave for a good while is running them through and through with dogs.

put some old oil on the ground(they like to roll in it) and maybe dig a 2 ft hole with post hole diggers, sour up some corn and pour down the hole....they'll find both attractants and start coming back.

it is very normal. happens at my deer lease and at my father in laws place all the time. at my father in laws place they may only show up about 1 time every six months or so, turn the place upside down and then not come back for six months.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.
