I watched my buddy step off the dock into my boat and he caught a treble hook in the forearm when his arm got to close to the rods in the rod holder on the center console. Then I got to watch him bite down on a stick and rip it out, and it was buried past the barb like the one in this pic. This happened the first time he ever came out on the boat with me. I barely knew him then and felt horrible, but we still fished all morning and ended up with a nice mess of blues!

How do you get tiny treble hooks out?
I'd start drinking heavily before the extraction. Then I'd go invest in a pair of shoes

Best way to do it is cut off the other sides, then push that barb through the skin and cut the barb off, then it just slides out. Wire cutters are your friend there. If you don't have wire cutters.....well, think of something

Ouch, uncle got one in his hand one time and as said above we pushed it through, cut barb off, and it slid right out.

Had one in my thumb before with fish on also. After getting the fish off we use the string trick and it worked great.

Was surf fishing (wading) a few years ago and my cousin was fightin a big ladyfish. Dang thing jumped right at my face. I ducked and turned and caught a trebble hook(with large fish still attached) in my shoulder past the barb. Fish went to floppin and I went to howlin. I grabbed it and squeezed until it was dead. After the fish was removed we had to wait about 30 minutes before someone drove by with wire cutters. Luckily by that time I had downed a bunch of beer. Cut the trebble and pushed it through. Have a nice little scar on my shoulder now.

I stepped on a lure barefooted in the boat once while striper fishing on Texoma. Had one barb in my foot and one of the others was caught in the boat carpet and I had big striper on the rod that was in my hands. To top that off I was in the boat by myself. I'm sure to the casual observer it would have been quite comical. To me, not so much.

Now mine seems weak by comparison. Hooks are dangerous.

Oh I had to hobble to work (I was on call) get some lidocaine so I could sit still. I went barefoot because, obviously shoes weren't an option. I had the hook in my foot for over an hour as I wallowed in pity agony, and self loathing.

Years ago son #2 (6yo at the time)cleaned out his fishing box while Dad (me) was gone. Did not tell anyone that the latch came open and he spilled everything on the hallway carpet. Later that evening I was playing with him running up and down the hallway. All of a sudden I felt a sharp sting / burn. You guessed it........ gold long shank crappie minnow hook. Shank was lying flat under my right big toe and the point / barb was DEEPLY imbedded in the tip. Tried the string thing- no luck. Tried pushing thru to clip- no luck. Neither technique even got it to move. Ended up going to ER. They tried both techniques without success so took an XRay. Had to do a surgical cut down because the barb WAS INTO THE BONE!
