Thinking about getting a lease in Callahan County near Clyde, Texas and was curious of the deer in that area? Looking at about 1600 acres that was not hunted last year because of the drought. I'm headed down in about a week or so to meet with the rancher and look at the property and se if it looks worth leasing. How is the hog hunting as well? It sounds like to me that there are quiet a few animals on the place. It is low fenced so I'm pretty excited to get a look at it. Thanks for any input, look forward to hearing what you have to say about the area. Thanks.

I wasnt gonna respond but you sound desperate so ill give you what little i know. It can be pretty good. A little south you probably have more deer and a little north maybe a little bigger deer. Of course it always depends on how the property has been treated. On a place that small you always have to worry about neighbors if you want to manage for quality/Trophy over long haul. Also depends on what you really want out of a place(deer, hogs etc and quality or quantity.) If you want much more from me ide need to know your goals/desires and how much money and how many hunters. Good luck. Also, its rare that a place would go unhunted just because of the drought so you may want to investigate that more.
