I'd like to get some comments about who uses what Services from TP&W, what you pay for those Services, your satisfaction levels in the Services received, and how that compares with what Services you have received from other Out of State or Federal Wildlife Agencies.
I'm talking about the whole spectrum of your contacts with TP&W from Law Enforcement, Hunting, Fishing and Camping experiences from any and all TP&W Program...or when you hear the words TP&W what one thought springs into your mind First.
Please Keep the comments short and clean. Currently I am looking for the first time at using some of the Oklahoma State Wildlife programs just across the Lake from my house, and mebbe some others like Kansas or even Nebraska which is closer to me than Garner State Park is.
I'm not looking for a lot of gritching about who & why TP&W's Funding Issues are creating shortfalls from what we received in years past...yet. That thread will come some time in the future when we can Identify what Services we use.

We haven't used a state park in several years, but when we did I thought they were a bargain. We have stayed in other campgrounds, the costs were higher, and not as nice. Today the most we do is maybe take a drive through to look around.

I guess I should have started off the comment section with some of my own experiences...beginning in the early 1960's.
My intro to GW's over 50 years ago was so memorable I've used the tale as a point of How Not to Win Friends & Influence People. On a Dove Hunt in Fannin County my partner thought I was gonna get us both put in jail for laughing out loud at the GW's dangerous stupidity during a License Check with the GW's mishandling of our loaded shotguns. OTOH I've had a GW put my buddy & I in his Patrol car and drive us to a outstanding mallard honey hole so we'd know how to get in Legally, after teasing us that he'd seen us not be able to shoot straight enough to be worried about the duck population...while counting our thin string of teal we'd taken in 5 hours of freezing our butts off. I t was important to the GW that we' at least been able to see some huntable mallards. I'm never unhappy to see a GW based on the number of times I've been checked since then.
I've stayed at more than a few SP's camping and hunted SP's and WMA's thru the Lottery System for over 20 years and have made way more friends than I ever thought possible. Only semi poor experience was at Choke Canyon on a Javy Hunt with duck hunters crowding us prior to the new guy taking over, & despite not scoring each and every Hunt always had a good enough time to want to go back and do it again....even while getting skunked at Garner and run out of the Park 'cause there were campers waiting at the gate. My family and I use state parks and WMA's a lot, all year around. Not just hunting and fishing either. My sons are about grown now but they were into Scouting so there was a lot of camping and hiking going on all the time. My wife is heavy into triathlon so she does most of her long miles at a state park whenever she can. Most of the TPWD folks I've met were good quality people. I have run into a DB or two but that's with any group of people. The only truly bad experience I've had with a game warden was in South Carolina. The guy was more interested in checking out my wife in her swimsuit than checking to see what fish I had in my cooler. When I tried to divert his attention back to the cooler, he got very hostile and told me he could find a violation on my boat if he wanted too. A real creep.

Parks are clean, comfortable, and usually patrolled. WMA's are a real bargain for the hunter and camper.

Like the state parks. Hot showers, well marked and maintained hiking trails. Courteous staff. Reservation system could be better.

I have hunted on several of the wma with the draw hunting program. I have hunted: Chaparral, Matador, Mason Mountain,San Angelo State Park, Elephant Mountain, Ft. Davis State Park. I had a great time at all of them.

State Parks are generally wonderful places to visit and the staff is generally very helpful. Also -- on a number of occasions I've called the state office and asked questions about wildlife and pond management and they've always been willing and eager to share their knowledge. They even sent two biologists to my place once to help me improve the quail habitat. I give the agency a hearty thumbs up!

Love state parks, very reasonably priced and clean. Haven't been to one yet I didn't like. Never hunted public land usually just camp and fish.

Whoever pooped all over the wall at Daingerfield State Park Mens bath room ought to be shot.
Otherwise, I love them.

Come on guys, tell me what you think about the Services provided by TP&W. Like & Use or Don't Use and Don't Care one way or the other.
I'd like to get mebbe a 100 responses total before moving on the next subject for discussion. Ron
