I inherited this gun from my grandpa and I was wondering what yall thought it is worth. I showed this picture to a guy at work and he was thinking around $1500. Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe fair value dollar wise...but priceless since it was handed down!

There is a similar model with mods on the forum now that has no hits at $975......however, these seem to run in the $1000 range if someone is looking for a Colt....neither of my grandfathers were gun owners.....my son hunts with my father's Remington 725.....my grandson is getting my Remington 700....grandpa's gun is a treasure sir....priceless....

$900 seems to be top dollar these days for an unmodified Commander. There are often found for less.

I will state that a family gun is worth lots more than it would ever get retail. The serial number looks to be 1973 manufacture, so it will bring more than a series '80 gun. I believe $1500 is high, but I believe $900-1000 is mighty close. Hold on to it. Grandpa didn't have a box full and once gone it can't be replaced.

I'll chime in before it gets moved. I ran a WTB here for a series 70 a long long time, got a few of great offers, more that were not so great, and a few just downright ridiculous I also monitored other sites and auctions etc for a couple months irregardless of hysterical panic buyers and price gouging pawn stars youre in the $800 - $1000 range all day, its not rare but who knows, maybe someone would pay $1500 for it Id just like to find some nickel magazines but panic buyers and hoarders must be speculating on the 7rd market going up soon and plan to cash in and retire to the beach along with the .22LR hoarders

I don't know why this got moved. I am a bow hunter but do have quite a lot of guns. Really don't know the value of most of them. Was actually thinking about trading this for a new fish finder for my boat. Thanks for everyone's resp once.

I haven't kept up on prices but, it's a pre Series 70 Combat Commander, in electroless nickel. It's a variant that's not very common which will affect pricing.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

Really nice pistol but you would be lucky to get $1000. Over that you can get into a nice custom pistol pretty easy.
