Howdy,

I am a disabled veteran, some of my issues include a neurological muscle disease and 60% loss of feeling/numbness in my right hand and 20% in my left. Due to these things I cannot bow hunt in the traditional sense and I hate that, but I still want to bow hunt in some form or another and my only real option is with a crossbow. I would like y'alls opinions on crossbows and and accessories I will need to start x bow hunting. I know it will eventually come down to personal choice and all but I am asking y'all as part of my initial research. Thanks.

You may need to consider one with a crank to draw it if your arm/shoulder strength is diminished. Even with the drawing string/pulley thingy mine is still pretty stout to draw. I bought it to shoot while rehabbing from shoulder surgery and then realized that was a pipe dream.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

First of all thank you for your service! If money is not an object PSE TAC 15 is unbelievable . It has a built in crank to draw and let bow down. It doesn't take allot of cranking force either. To on YouTube and check em out. 405fps... My personal favorite is Excalibur. Any model you can get a crank on them to. It's called a crankaroo . Recurves are as maintenance free and reliable as it gets. I absolutely love mine. Do your research on them. There are several companies that have limb problems. You will find in your research Excalibur is second to none.

Read the reviews and go try out different ones. Cabela's has several brands and models and a range where you can try them out.

thank you for your service

I am in a similar boat as you, I am 90% DV, I shoot an Excalibur X bow and love it for simplicity and like they say in the commercial you can drop it out of your stand and still shoots true, found this out the hard way. Reasonably priced and I like them.

Do you have a Cabelas credit card? I went to Cabelas today and there is a sale that starts tomorrow on Strker 350 and 380. I bought one today and they gave me sale.price. 100 gift card which can be used towards purchase.

Google Kodabows, Chuck is the CEO and retired Navy. I purchased the Rhino model and I am very impressed. There trigger system is machined and the bow is as quiet as any compound. Most crossbows are loud as hell lol. Call Chuck he will answer all your questions. Good Luck

Most impressive one I have tried lately is the Darton Serpent. Cross bow that actually has a valley like a Compound and let off in that valley yet still gets 335fs and is as quite as man compounds.

Cabela's in Allen also has Stryker 380 factory refurbished crossbows in bargain cave for 150 less than new ones.
