Fellow Glock owners,
Do your mags drop free?
In my ger, almost feels like there's some kind of suction keeping it in there. Have to manually grab it and pull. When it finally breaks free of the magwell, there's a little pop like it created a pressure difference.
Anyways, was trying to practice single hand reloads and reracks on both strong and weak sides... And it's impossible because I can't shake the mag outa the magwell.

Only ones I have never seen drop free either loaded or unloaded were the SF models with the factory ambi release. And even most of those will still drop free.

All mine drop free. I do remember seeing advertisements prior to 2004 for Glock Mag that drop free and non drop free. Are your mags factory Glock mags? Did they come with your gun?

My g23 is old. One of the first production runs for the 23. It's a factory 13 round glock mag. As far as knowing it it came with the gun, I have no idea. It was my uncle's EDC and he willed it to me along with many of his other firearms.
Floorplate of mag has the glock emblem and 455 in the bottom of the G if that means anything. I can see where the mag touches the sides of the magwell interior
I think the entire magwell sleeve is warped or something.
If yall take ur mag our and grab the handle with a gorilla grip, does yours flex? I think this the problem, but I have no idea how to correct it.
Looking in the magwell, you can see where the mag scrapes on all 4 sides
REALLY don't want to go sanding on this thing. This gun means a whole-lot to me and it's also my EDC

It's gotta be all the years of my uncle gripping this thing with his gorilla hands.
If I hold it by the slide, I can get the mag to ALMOST drop out. But, if I'm actually properly gripping it, it aint gonna happen. My hands are compressing the polymer grip to the point that it is pinching the mag.

That sucks . IT would make combat reloads pretty slow. Be kinda like me in competition reloading my revolver. They use a clock instead of shot timer.

somewhere in the Gen.2 model Glocks they changed the design of their mags.....all the early model ones would not drop free....i had a 17 that had mags just like you described in your 23....Gaston Glock designed the pistol mags so they would not fall out of the gun but American law enforcement wanted mags that dropped free so he changed their design somewhere in 90's.....just get you some later model mags and you will be okay

I have a few glocks all mine drop free except a first gen 23 I just got. tried a newer mag and it dropped free. Don't know if the design is different or just wear and tear. Try another mag.

Surprised no answer yet. On the back of the mag at the top where you can see the primer of the top round. Drop-free mags are relieved square, non drop-free are round. Non drop-free mags drop when empty usually, when loaded the sides bulge slightly and drag in the mag well. IIRC this was to keep from accidentally dropping the mag in high stress situations. I'm pretty sure this is correct, though once I thought I was wrong but was mistaken. Paul
